UPDATE:

All Sorted Thanks. I purchased a small cacti and succulent nursery today off an old collector/market seller. 3 generations of collecting, 100+ years of records and all the photo albums and newspaper clippings to go with it. I cant wait to upload some pictures to show off some more of this broad collection of cacti once the move to the farm is complete. I hope I can build on and keep this collection going in my family for another 100 years.

I went there to buy these...

... and ended up buying the lot. Photos below are from the first of six hot houses!

Thanks to those who responded to this ad and who I've bought some nice lophs of this week. Cheers.

Im new to this. I have been growing these cactus since I was given one for my 13th birthday. I had no idea what they were until a little over a month ago when a friend pointed out that Jim Morrisson from the Doors had a great time with them and told me what they all are.

I have been collecting them from markets for years off people like me who didnt know what they were.

I am now in the process of relocating all my lophs to some acreage with a view to mass propagate to help build numbers for other collectors like myself.

I only recently dicovered there is a active community of loph lovers like me and since they steered me to this site I have purchased a nice couple of clumps from SAB to add to my collection. I am wanting to see what other fine specimens are out there for sale for me to buy.

I am looking to buy:

1st priority - Seed grown only. Any big LW clumps or individual with a 60+mm largest head and good seed producer. I am not expecting or asking for "cheap" and they dont have to be perfect in appearance. Sorted - but always interested in more.

2nd priority - Seed grown only. Medium clumps or individual with 40-60mm largest head. Preapared to buy bulk. Again I dont expect cheap but I do expect realistic. Sorted thanks. Always interested though.

3rd - any LW or LW vars, any size, graft or seed at the right price. Also prepared to buy bulk.

I'm also interested in buyin companion plants as I have had them partly shaded under cloth. Sorted thanks.

Cash, bank deposit or paypal. Motivated buyer :-D

Lol no worries. I will take some happy snaps out at the farm on the weekend and upload some. I have some emailed pictures of my newest purchases if they help. Maybe the previous owner will introduce themselves.

Yes. They kindly put me on to the two little ones above. I've exchanged many emails with them over the last week and am finalizing a few more purchases by Monday. Great service from SAB, very helpful. Cheers.

No I mean are they caespitosa ^

I understand mate I've been on the same mission with arios the last 6 months, so much so I've imposed a ban on myself buying any more plants for the next 6 months, I think I've spent at least 2k on them. At least they are a gift to yourself that will last a lifetime. I get sooooooo much pleasure just staring at and touching my arios, it's my daily meditation and connects me to that something much deeper than my everyday wage slavery.

I'm hearing you. Up until a few weeks ago I only knew them as tennis balls. I've been on a steep learning curve since I learnt not only what the monetary value of my collection is worth but also the amazing stories and history behind them. It has consumed me and you may think I'm a dickhead but I want to breed them up and get them out there lol I've just built a massive shade area for them on the farm and have been buying heaps of extra seed and different species to have a real good go at upping the numbers (3k in the last 4 weeks - sorry honey). I'd love to put pictures up but given what they are I'm not sure I want to chance giving away their location. Sorry if I'm off track - beer and other joys are working a treat by this campfire :-)

Incognito - I'll be winding up purchases for a little while after I sort whatever goodies SAB helps me with. I'm working on the missus to let me spend another 2500 this Monday and that will do (till I spot something next week lol). There are so many pretties out there the likes I don't have and I want them all. I can't take my money with me so why not put it toward a whole lot of happiness. All the best. Ixx
