Anyone have one of these?

Question

Hi there, there's something a bit different about this one...

anyone have one similar, or know what its parentage might be?

Hmmm.... The skin looks funny. From memory if you scrape your fingernail along the skin, a pach will be smooth, while you can feel tiny bumps in a scop. This may not be the case, but if it is, and the skin feels as bumpy as it looks - then I assert it has some scop genes. :)

Hmmm... is it a cactus? um... might be a cactus. not too sure, but it's kinda cactus like. Does it smell like a cactus? I once saw a cactus, and it looked a bit like that. There's a good chance... it's a cactus. Still can't be quite sure, does it feel like a cactus? A lot of cactus are green, so it might be one of those. If you sit it on the bench, does it walk away? If not, it might be a cactus - they generally don't walk, because they don't have legs. Does it make any noise? Probly a cactus if it doesn't, I've had some for years and haven't heard them speak yet. I'm not definitively sayin they don't, but i haven't heard one yet. So yeah, the more i think about it, the more I think it's a cactus.

So - If it turns out that what you have there is a cactus - then yep! I've got one of those!

As for parentage - Well... when a mummy and a daddy cactus...

ill have to check, there is something very different about this one though, the photos dont really show it, but yeah its got a different texture and colour, and the spines occur close together as in alot of areoles along the length

from another melbourne sab'er, he didnt know what it was either, i think he got it given to him...

tis a murky ID trail

Looks very similar to one of mine I reckon its just a strait pachanoi they can look remarkably different to one and other if they are seed grow and not a clone

I have two strait pachanoi from the same batch of seed that most ppl wouldn't even guess were related.
