Terscheckii x Pyscho0

Recommended Posts

Hey guys/girls,

Anyone else growing this hybrid, love this plant. Beautiful golden Terscheckii colour spines

Would really like to see a large/larger specimen if anyone has this in their collection.

Will turn this into many once it gets larger. :)

Terscheckii spelt incorrectly in the title, can't change it.

i have one (or 3) young ones also, biggest probably 10 inches at most. probably my favourite cactus as far as looks are concerned, i will add a photo at some point. it may actualy be psycho0 x terscheckii, but i am uncertain at this point. infact, looking at yours i'd say i do have the reverse cross, doesn't look like it will grow so fat...

nice plant anyway man :)

Yeah mine was a rooted cutting that has just settled and starting to show new growth, looking forward to seeing what it does this summer as well.

I got rid of a bunch of them, kept two.

Both around 28 cm, one is certainly going to be unique.

I have one thats as tall as me - theres some pictures in my gallery (and I'll probably upload another later on). Also my favourite out of my collection. Its also my fastest growing - its grown to nearly 6 foot in a bit less than 3 years. Its one of the ones herbalistics has.

Hey mate, I feel your pain.

This hybrid not availble anywhere in NZ is it? Has it ever been?

There's only Terscheckii x Pach, and perhaps the vice-versa. I had some seeds of Terscheckii x Psycho0, but none germinated. One day I'll get some of this hybrid. :)

My largest 2 are only 1ft or so but nice and terscheckii fat since potting on and being in full sun. I was gonna mention you poisonshroom, the pics you showed me many months back showed an awesome specimen. I still have around 50 or so seedlings of this cross left but next to no seeds left. A couple i have left display the self terminating the same as what zelly has shown. One of my fav crosses ive done and id really like to see an update of yours poisonshroom!!!

Update is here =] - she's still growing straight up with no sign of pupping yet, and is now taller than me (im 5'11''). I had planned on taking it with me when I eventually move, but I dont think it will fit on the back of my parent's ute, and definitely wont fit in my falcon lol

No flowers yet either

Do everyone a big favor poisonshroom, take some cuts off it and flog 'em off! That way you'll be able to fit it in your car also.

Do it for your buds mate! :)

This is true - I cant bring myself to cut it though - its my fastest growing (and arguably 'most mature') cactus, and Im waiting to see whether it pups from high up like terscheckii tends to or from the base like other tricho's usually do. Its also one of the few cacti I (painfully) moved inside during yasi - it took me and a friend to move it because it was so heavy, and at that time it was only a bit taller than knee height. Maybe one day Ill take some cuttings

Beautiful plant mate, I am sure there will be plenty of happy new homes for it if you have to get rid of it.

Mine has grown heaps since the photo's I took at the beginning of this post and has thrown 2 pups.

Cheers

Those are really cool! One of the neatest hybrids I've seen - don't have any in my own garden but I sure appreciate the pictures.. Wonder if the Validus hybrids via Zelly and Mel will have that sort of look to them?

Hopefully this year in Oz y'all can get some more terscheckii hybrids going :)

I have quite a few of Zelly's Validus x seed coming along too so will be interesting to see what they turn out like.

I definately plan in the future to attempt some interesting Terscheckii crosses, watch this space :)

in my small experience, validus has got the shorter spines from the similarly fat terscheckii and pasacana. I also think validus is a faster grower. But yeah its got the girth

I am trying this hybrid validus seed from zelly and we compare in the future!
