I would like to share some photos of carvings which I got from Dave Mann.

Dave is a full time carver, who is happy to do comission work.

There are more photos of his carvings on his facebook page, if you would like to check it out or perhaps contact him if you would like to comission a piece,

search "little frog design" on facebook.

I would warmly reccomend purchasing a carving from Dave, he is an incredibly talented artist who is struggling to make ends meet.

He can make almost anything, specialising in pipes and boxes and he also does skrimshaw.

Here is my birthday present from my partner,

a serious little finch. We called him "Todd". (He is a stash box)

Here is another box which I asked him to make for my friend's birthday.

This is another stashbox, you can barely tell it opens

And this last piece I am going to share today is a carving Dave gifted me recently.

I am extremely lucky to get this piece, as it was made in 1989, 2 years before I was even born.

Lizard letter-opener (I am waiting for my loph seed to show up for the first time I use it to open a letter  )

I will continue to update this thread with more photos of Dave's carvings, as my partner and I have collected quite a few pieces now and always jump at the opportunity to purchase more.

Hope you lot enjoy the pictures and feel inspired to comission something yourself.

Bummer, I was wondering that, as I don't have a facebook so I couldn't check his page.

Try search for dave mann (or man), dunedin on facebook.

the two face boxes are both made from the same branch of english yew.

Dave said recently that he has been drawing and creating these particular faces since he was a little kid.

I just love the way they seamlessly interlock, and all those seriously serious or cheeky expressions.

the frog i think is made from matai, and the frog on the leaf is completely made from one piece of wood, apart from the base.
