bogfrog Posted September 4, 2012 My household drinks alot of tea, so I was just harvesting some peppermint and lemonbalm from the garden and wondering why I dont do this very often.. Then I remembered what a pain it is using the coffee plunger for herbal tea, and that the tea is often tainted with mild coffee-ish flavor. So, that had me wondering, do any of you clever cats make your own tea bags, and if so.. What do you make them from and how do you seal the edges? Any tips greatly appreciated. PhoenixSon Posted September 4, 2012 probably be easier to just buy a cheap plunger or pot for your herbal tea's. i know you can get metal ball sieves as re-usable doobie's for teas
Amazonian Posted September 4, 2012 There are things on the market called 'tea pockets' .... http://www.octaviate...ea-Bags%29.html ... Or you could get some of those little organza draw string bags and empty them out, wash them after each use and re-use them .Maybe you could get some hemp material and sew a few little bags up with a draw string. I use a tea ball and it works well.
bogfrog Posted September 4, 2012 Yeah I have used those metal doofers before but they seem to let quite a bit of plant matter through. Maybe I just need to buy a couple top quality ones!

Psylo Posted September 4, 2012 After a sample sent from a fine member here, I have been buying and drinking a lot dragon pearl tea so my tea 'ball' gets a workout. Its the clamp-style, which is really handy. It lets through hardly any leaf material, only the finest of particles

klip247 Posted September 4, 2012 I drink a fair bit of tea as well so ive been on the lookout for a similar device, came across this one, what do you guys think?
nothinghead Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) I used to have a teapot with one of those ^ inside it, worked perfectly. You could also rinse and reuse a piece of cheesecloth to steep large herbs like mint leaves. Probably wouldn't work so well for finer cut herbs.
