deadstar, a lot of people like it if things in the backround are out of focus, but i personally, don't like it so much.

don't get me wrong, i like that shot a lot, but i share with you a trick, only few cameramen use, but you need a tele for it.

if you take the same shot from a larger distance, and use the teleobjective, than even backround items will be in focus or in better focus!!

Thanks for the tip planthelper. I only had a 50mm zoom lense when i took that shot. I useded the technique you described with a very small D.O.F but i am still learning

There are some great photos here and I agree that so far amazonians pics are the stand out.

I have posted these before but they are a couple of my favourites

I was determined to win this great competition, and so I begged my girl if I could show that photo of her in the pool, and finally she said yes. We thought it was a nice way of cheating, getting the votes of young guys and such, and I asked her if she would let me take more if we were doing well, as a little tasty offering to up the votes. She said she would when the weather got warmer, but I'm not sure she will if she thinks a frog (cute though it is) is getting more votes than her finest attributes!?!

Anyway, he's some Kino to sweeten the deal.

Your links are working fine jwerta :) ( be much nicer if you could display the pictures though...that way you are guaranteed people will see them) . The colours in the flowers are very vived, and i love the park pictue at the end, I wish we could have a plant meet there.

Nice photos..

I'm not really interested in the seeds but just felt like sharing these anyway..

These are probably my favorite 2 plant photos that I've taken..

I messed with the color of the 1st one and accidentally saved it.. so it lost some of the detail.. but oh well

^ You gotta just love Heliconia Flowers (see first link above). I bought several varieties years ago , but they were not fond of Melbourne weather :( .

Also, the leaf edge on the water lilies...i have never seen them look serrated (see second link above). :)

This one gets my second vote, although it's not crystal clear I love the atmospheric edge.
