Mescal Beans

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone knew of sources to get mescal beans from.

Also, are there any restrictions regarding the plant?

There are many species called mescal beans. Which one were you looking for?

I remember reading somewhere that the natives which used the Mescal beans gave them up when they had other things available.

Which might indicate that they are not the best things in the world to use.

I guess youre talking about sophora secundiflora(spelling?)

Im after that too - I havent seen it listed on the WA prohibited and permitted which means it isnt on the federal prohibited.

it means i cant import it without a weed risk assessment but you could i guess..

Quite a few of the overseas carriers have it - but i recall torsten mentioning it _ yes? I hear they make good bead necklaces apparently

Sophora secundiflora will be added to the catalog sometime soon. It is not high on the list of priorities, as it is a truely nasty experience, but the novelty value and the very beautiful tree make it worthwhile.

I'm not intending to consime the beans if i find them, as I've read reports that the experience is similar to that of Datura or belladonna, which has scared me off a quite a bit.

I'm looking for them for decorative purposes like the bead necklace reville mentioned.

thanks for the help
