Horus Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) Discussion of plant use in any culture. Hello, I would like to discuss the use of my Banisteriopsis caapi to make a ceremonial space in my Australian backyard. I didn’t know weather to post this in spirituality, but I think it conforms to this criteria better as I will post lots of plant pictures. So my Caapi has been outgrowing its host tree, a flowering peach, which is old and dying a slow death. So I built a pergola for my vine, which it fits like its been there for years. I’m sure by the end of this season it will have grown down and around to create an enclosed room. When I have been in deep connection with the plant spirits I have always experienced a very pronounced effect by meditating under the vine. So it was logical to develop this phenomena. To embrace and optimise it. To have a consecrated area where people can be in circle and meditate together. A simple spiral signifies the journey from the outer to the inner also the self to the whole. All the elements are represented etc etc I had a beautiful opening ceremony with my meditation group, all of whom are healers and psychics and 2 are duly deputized Aboriginal elders, along with some friends including a talented Bangladesh drummer I met "in circle".... somewhere...last year. All the libations and observances were made, a deep group meditation had, then chanting and some live music written and improvised for the event. We have made the area a "bright light" in the etheric. It is connected to the grid of energy points (having a big caapi makes you a beacon in the ether, and sometimes the twilight zone anyhow) It is, in my personal mythology a sacred site, and treated accordingly. And the space is now a portal for connecting, meditating and journeying. Connecting with the plants and the whole, the outer and the inner as one. Or .....it is just a pergola with an knotty vine, and a space cadet owner with too much imagination.........anyhow Somewhere beneath that vine is my special space Hidden away from veiw My vine stands tall in its new room The vine is also in the undercover meditation space. So guys thats my yearly show and tell, dont PM me about circles as I am talking about guided a meditation group. But any SAB member with a forum history is welcome, with a weeks notice to pop in for a cuppa if ya passin by.As many have already done. Micromegas Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) Colhawk everytime I see photos of your garden i feel happier, and it is great to have some background about how you approach the task of growing sacred plants. Both a masterful effort and a sacred space, as well as the imagination of a space cadet I'd say, two sides of the same coin. Well done, and congratulations.
