Cereus peruvianus for grafting?

Recommended Posts

I have received a few Cereus peruvianus cuts & wanted to know if any members use this for grafting?

If members use this for grafting, I would like to hear about your experiences.

What is the best cactus stock for grafting on?

Cheers

I don't think that many people would use C. peruvianus for grafting.

The area between the ribs is normally very small as compared to a Trich etc, so by the time you trim and prep the stock you only have a small area to work with. For a small scion it would be OK though and it is a very hardy resilient plant so it should go OK.

It's hard to say what is the best stock, that arguement could go on forever, some people have favourites though. T. pach is a good one.

It's hard to go past Pers. for a lot things especially smaller scions and Opuntias are very forgiving and easy to work with too.

From my personal experience T spachianus is very good stock albeit spiky.
