Auxin Posted June 15, 2012 I cant seem to find much on the usefulness of Cylindropuntia species as grafting stock, anyone have any experience? I figure grafts will take but what of scion growth rate, length of graft productivity, etc? While out on a frolic last night I found a busted off branch of C. imbricata with 60 cm worth of stems, obviously hardy at least down to -25° C, so I brought it home since it looks better than my O. engelmannii for grafting. I'm already starting to loathe the thing, not only does it have glochids but the 15 mm spines behave like glochids too, and they even molt to stay razor sharp! I'm having second thoughts about growing out half a dozen of these dastardly plants to use as stock, lol. Whatcha figure? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
kadakuda Posted June 16, 2012 i came here thinking i could answer your question when i realized i had Austrocylindropuntia, which works but not that great for speed. try it out. I know a lot of people graft without roots fine, but i alwys prefer to root them first if you have the luxury of time to wait Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
