i still have our daughters first hair cut when her hair was down to her butt, it is a about 1 and 1/2 foot long and i've always wanted to plait it like one of those raffia dolls so we have a little doll made of her.

Is that blue agate and pyrite? Interesting pieces! I also collect crystals and minerals. A lot of them have fascinating stories and they all have memories of where I bought or found the piece and what their "metaphysical" properties are. I've honestly felt vibrations and other reactions from some pieces a lot more than others. A tiny piece of phenacite is the first piece I obsessed over needing to have, and holy SHIT did it vibrate with energy! Phenacite with a piece of ruby+zoisite (placed on my third eye) gave me incredible energy for a whole week. I gave my grandmother a palmsized piece of rose quartz to hold for love and comfort when she was missing my papa (who died a few years ago), or missing me. I went to her place last week after she passed away and found that and the other crystals I got her; I laid down with it on the bed and it felt like she was lying next to me holding my hand. It was so warm and loving. I wonder if that's how she felt when she held it thinking of papa or myself. There was also a time when I held a piece of black kyanite spray in a gemstore without knowing what its "properties" were; the second it touched the skin of my palm I felt an odd sensation of being kind of pushed bolt straight upward with perfect posture. Then the lady said it was supposed to align the chakras. The piece itself looks like a spray of petrified iron filings so that seemed to gel! I've felt angel aura quartz in a different gemstore while one of the ladies working there did some healing on me while my eyes were closed. It felt like being inside a bright, softly tactile cloud made of real pure white.

I'm an absolute tea nut and collect random types that I would actually drink but I just don't get around to it cos I love regular black tea so much lol.

I got the hoarding gene from my grandmother lol.

Great thread worthy of a kick start

In the last 6 mths I've become obsessed with retro video games. Combined with a career change to a pawn broker, bad habit purchases have increased ten fold! My games collection secured over 6 mths;

I'm a bit of a hoarder, so while I don't specifically collect anything, I find it really hard to throw out anything that I could see being useful in the future. As with others, this has inclluded electrical cords. I had a big drawer full of cords with broken plugs. My girlfriend told me I had to throw out about 90% of it, and then a month later I got a call from a friend asking if I had any old electrical shit to use for a prop he was making

I have a lot of homebrew shit, and I can't bear to throw out crown seal bottles. I had the shed pretty much full of them recently, even though I rarely use them. I don't have much time to be brewing at the moment, and when I do, I usually keg now anyway. Was told I had to pick a couple of different types that I want to keep and ditch the rest. I also can't bear to throw out spirit bottles or tobacco tins, so I have a few of those.

Some other stuff I have is juggling stuff (cj balls, clubs, torches, bean bag balls), steins (only a few and they're cheapo ones), some board games (only half a dozen that I really like), LPs (just a few), playing cards, and of course computers.

Got a small number of hand-coolers (marble, turquoise, green obsidian, and tiger's eye among others).

Agricola and Puerto Rico are particularly good. Agricola can be very frustrating, but it's a very charming game, though it was really hard to learn how to play from the instructions that came with it, even though they're really detailed.

So you are quite literally a Spine Collector...here i was thinking 'what a clever allusion he has made to collecting cacti'

I can't help but think, that some people might consider that a person who collects spines, may be a little bit creepy?

Although lots of collections are a bit creepy, my dad still has most of my baby teeth. I remember discovering them as a child and being absolutely horrified.

If you can ever source some cholla wood (cactus wood) you are well on your way to making a rainstick there mate!

I brought a nice piece of cholla from a cactus grower and he kindly sent me a huge bundle of 10cm long cactus spines. It was very satifying, pushing the spines back into the cactus wood.

I will take a picture of my rainstick, to show you, its not a collection, but it emcompasses a collection of spines.

lol... well I do have alot of chollas too! Im not sure if they are the type that turn into cholla wood
one of them is imbricata... and the other I think maybe viridiflora but I won't know til they flower I suppose
they are still little ones with a few little skinny offsets

I love old science and medical equipment/apparatus as well as antique chemistry books.

A few years ago I decided to try and quell my hoarding tendincies and sold most of my collection, so when around the same time my folks offered me a gorgeous antique curio cabinet with mirrored back and curved glass doors I decided it would make me relaps and I gave it to a friend in exchange for a dishwasher (which I never recieved, grrr)

When I go over there, I see that they have it filled with porcelain pigs statues. It makes me frustrated.. lol..

If anyone has something similar they want to sell or trade Im surper keen!
