Persea sp. - borbonia?

Question

I found several stands of these trees with extremely aromatic leaves reminiscent of some trees with volatile oils prized as synthetic starting points. I think they must be Persea sp. Literature makes it look like the aromatics are mainly just camphor and cineole.

i got no idea what this is, but it might be interressting to bring up that persea americana, the avocado, does contain safrol in it's leaves according to an austrian university study!

does the bottom side of the leaves appear in a lighter more greyish shade, than the top? persea's do share this feature.
