is this witches bloom

Hi all i wasn't sure whether to put this here or the id section but i thought it might help other out so it ended up here

ok so is this witches bloom? (first pic)

And is there any way to get rid of it? I wouldn't mind quarantining it at a mates and letting it clump then get rid of the disease to get something unique if its possible or is it stuffed?

While Im at it can anyone id this please(second pic)

to the first pic, yes it looks a little witches-broomy...

FWIW I have witches broom on a couple of lophs and they haven't spread it to anything else near by in the few years Ive had them.

I believe it definately is some kind of fungal infection. The fucked up wool production on the areoles is a good indicator for that. I have an infected cactus that did something similar. But its possible that the infection is only a secondary symptom because it suffered from spidermites. They usually prepare the ground for the fungals. Did you check for them?

Hey thanks for the info guys

I checked for spider mite no sign of them and the rest of the cactus looks fine, just that one pup that had it. I didn't know witches bloom was a fungal infection, so can you get rid of it with a fungiside?

I had a thread on it at one stage, ended up an insect was living inside the cactus causing some wierd arse mutations...

Before the cut i only pulled it off so i could get a pic of it and because it's my only equidorian pachanoi I don't think it'd be an insect as the rest of the cactus looks fine but ill have a good look this arvo

Btw, the name of the disease is Witches BROOM. If you use that term, you might find some more info about it. bye Eg
