Recommended Posts

That loph cake just makes me smile, it's wicked, I love it !

Every time that Jo makes one of these cakes she make people smile. :)

Here is the Subaru cake ( first ever car made by Jo )

This cake was made for a young guy that has the same model WRX and is into rallying.

This one was made during the week for a 9 year olds birthday "Dolly Garden Cake"

Every thing is edible except the doll in the middle which is the birthday girls favorite doll

It is almost a shame to eat such amazing art... But I guess that's part of the appeal! It's almost a psychedelic idea, to consume something beautiful like that. What are these cakes made of? Is there cream and sponge cake inside, and the the outer decorations made with sugar and colourings? I would be curious to see one in the process of consumption by a pack of kids!

Holy shit! She sure has been busy.

What an incredible talent she has.

I really like Luca's happy owl.

And that flamingo seems to defy the laws of physics!

What are the legs made of?!

breast wishes ...hehehe

Your wife is amazing dude. I love them all, especially Hoot as I'm currently watching that every night.

It would be cool to see an Iggle Piggle cake, he's a memorable character.

Most of the cakes are chocolate mud cakes with chocolate ganash covering on the outside and in between the cakes. They are then covered with fondant. Some are also white chocolate mud cakes with white chocolate ganash.

She has also started doing a caramel chocolate ganash. :drool2: All of the ganash and the cakes are made with good quality dark chocolate and the cakes have a hint of coffee as well.

Drooling yet

Just about every thing on and in the cakes is edible. The only things in the cakes above that are not edible are the candles , the sticks for the signs and potato heads and the flamingo has a stainless steel frame inside of it.

For example the bottom cake the only things that you cant eat is the cake stand/board the bling on the shoe and the pieces on the side have wire in them

The wine bottle cake is totally edible. The box and the ruffled material is fondant. The packing in the box is white chocolate and the rest is cake and fondant.

I was going to post a pic of the frame that we made for the flamingo but I don't seem to be able to upload it at the moment.

I have past on your comments to Jo and she says thanks and you are all very kind. :)

Cheers

Your wife is a gift to human kind. Any woman who has such a clear understanding of the wonders of ganash should be given a medal.

I bet you will have sooooo many sabers wanting to come to your birthday parties now!!!

GoT this is the first time I saw this thread, but I remember the loph cake from the "other" board. Your wife is an amazing artist, thanks to both of you for sharing. Please let some of the other guys there know that I think about them often, especially naum and ferrel_human? Shine on bud!

@mutant: Ganache (/ɡəˈnɑːʃ/; from the French word for "jowl")[1] is a glaze, icing, sauce, or filling for pastries made from chocolate and cream.[2]

magnify-clip.png
A video of making ganache

Ganache is normally made by heating cream, then pouring it over chopped chocolate of any kind. The mixture is stirred or blended until smooth, with liqueurs or extractsadded if desired.

Depending on the kind of chocolate used, for what purpose the ganache is intended, and the temperature at which it will be served, the ratio of chocolate to cream is varied to obtain the desired consistency. Typically, two parts chocolate to one part cream are used for filling cakes or as a base for making chocolate truffles, while one to one is commonly used as a glaze. Cooled ganache can be whipped to increase volume and spread to cover a cake. However, if left to cool too much it can become too thick and unspreadable.

Ganesha on the other hand is the Hindu god with an elephant head, and is equally fantastic.

https://soundcloud.com/mc-yogi/ganesh-is-fresh-feat-jai-uttal

"Although he is known by many attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify.[6] Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles,[7] the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom.[8] As the god of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as patron of letters and learning during writing sessions.[9][10] Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography."
