☽Ţ ҉ĥϋηϠ₡яღ☯ॐ€ðяئॐ♡Pϟiℓℴϟℴ Posted June 22, 2017 (edited) well grandiflorus survived last winter out , it spent the previous winter in a low light apartment/flat , the previous 2 winters which were fkn harsh man (-16C a few times - enough to lift paving slabs from expanding ice) it didn't mind those winters either , and they were it's first years with me ... so i have one sure fire winner , there is a chance that it is a hybrid with a huasca i reckon going by feel but i dnno ,.. i told this to a mate in aus who reckons if a grandi can take it so can a pach and bridgey but some pachs begged to differ during those winters at -16C either way i have a couple of pachs and a fair few more bridgies , along with all the echinopsis - lol - and a pasacana to stay out , i also have 2 terscheckii valle fertil san juan that were born in uk down south to try out all winter .. that's about as far as I'll go for now incidentally i overwintered t' huasca var petcheretaneous ( or whatever the fukk it's called) through those -16'ers too with no sweat .. which species did you try ? i'm told by the super dooper ultra rare cactus legends that freezing fog is what they hate over here in the cretish isles i could put a few bikinis on the cacti but i prefer to see them nekkid... they've been known to wear wristwatches ,sunglasses,... big smiles, amulets and stufs before and... there's loads of less interesting species that be grown even in scotland outside all year round... DualWieldRake Posted June 22, 2017 Had one E. pachanoi outside this winter and fungus started to fuck with it so got it inside. Had it covered in plastic tenting wich might have been a bad move fungus like these circumstances. It also got eaten on right before going dormant, the fungus spots where all over tho. Thinking now i might try a douse of bennies coming winter.
MeanGreen Posted June 22, 2017 Pretty sure tropical plants like the kiwi you're talking about were made hardy through selective breeding. As in sow some seeds, grow the plants, subject them to colder and colder temperatures until all but one male and one female die, make seeds from them and start again generation after generation until the offsprings are hardy enough. I don't see it happening with trichos anytime soon considering how long it takes to get one to flower from seeds. If someone finds a way to force flowering in young trichos then maybe.

Pedropark Posted June 28, 2017 I use EM(effective Microorganism) since a couple of years in the garden, and for cleansing, washing, the body. There are many things they are very helpful. Since I use EM for plants, they are more healthy and have more flowers, deeper roots. ... While I am writing, the Postman is delivering new EM. WHAT A SYNCHRONICITY. Attached you find a pic, what I got today. For the plants I use the liquid form. In the web I found this: Great Microbial Treatment for all plants (flowers, veggies, trees, etc.), compost, and soils. Improves Soil Structure and Drainage Bioremediation Bacteria Eliminates Foul Odors In The Home (Pets, Smoke, Garbage, Drains, Paint, etc.) Improves Water Quality In Aquariums, Ponds and Rivers Effective Soil Conditioner Cleans Without Toxic Chemicals Accelerates Composting

Pedropark Posted July 3, 2017 Time to feel the sun ... first time for the 6 month old seedlings. Now they get accustomed to the nature. These boxes are doing a good job when I sow a couple of hundreds at the same time. Easy to handle and easy to take care of them until separation. Misplant seedlings are extraordinary healthy and strong and some are mutated.
DualWieldRake Posted July 3, 2017 (edited) Oh my god, theres so many of them! And they are....so..green....and big How often do you water them? The mini stakes are a nice touch, sorry to hear about the mutants though (can still eat em i guess) I must say tho, they look kinda cute at this size... Pedropark Posted July 3, 2017 How often they get water depends on the weather and temperatures. Usely I give them water every 3 days. If its hot over 30 degres celsius every second day. The soil is a mix of pumice, sand and wormearth. Took some time to find the right mix. The soil is around 5cm high in the boxes. They were inside until now on a sunny windowplace, 4 hours direct sun per day. Now they get 3-4 hours sun a day outside. Will increase that step by step. Is the color to green? The green is different from cross to cross. Beautyful to see. To spiny already to eat them at once, maybe I wait. Better to look at them and admire the art of growing.
MeanGreen Posted July 3, 2017 Gorgeous seedlings Pedropark! The amount of crests is insane, what seeds are those?
Pedropark Posted July 3, 2017 The seedlings are a kind of a mystery mix from misplant with a story behind. I sow a box full of seeds end of last year, aproximatly 500 and labeled them carefully. Amongst them some gems, a few tpm x mystery and bonny x tpm. At one day my cat jumped in the box and destroyed all the seedlings. What a mess. It was a sundaymorning and I had tears in my eyes. The cat survived, it was my mistake. I tried to save a lot of seedlings at an very early age of 2 weeks and it took me 2 days to separate them from earth and replant them carefully. Now I separated the mutants from the other seedlinds a couple of days ago and this is the TPM-Mystery story. So we have BonnyxTPM and TPMxMystery.

DualWieldRake Posted July 22, 2017 Caught a maiz First one escaped through the kitchen sink but this one i grabbed it by the tail. Also managed to catch a hylo and a whatever that is (dual headed pachanoi) Not 100% sure if the graft connection survived the apical drilling violence of 2 weeks ago, i did had to remove 2 new shoot buds from pere. Time will tell. Pups are picking up and i cut off the upper two (grafted onto pere). The other side has 1 tiny new one and then it's all just the crest.
