What did you do to your cacti today?

Recommended Posts

15 years old approx on that variegated astro. The little astros we have a few of take ages to grow and like any living thing requires food & water to grow. You have to be careful with them though because rott can and will take astro's at any given moment for no reason :(. We are very cautious of waterings (have a few hundred myrio's) and you do lose a few here and there due to waterings but it's worth it when you see them growing :).

Had a variegated trich (i think? ) I grafted it onto a healthy trich because its hylocereus stock was dying.
Anyone know what kind of cactus it is? Some of the spines i ripped off accidently

I finally got my 2016/2017 genetics all sorted out and have put up and ad to sell some seeds. I will donate 10% of each sale price to the SAB server costs. (for sales done through SAB)

patroled for snails, cleaned up a bit, transplanted - uppotted a bit,

semi-uprooted some mandragora to check roots, to prepare for hibernation, this was not a good year for mandrakes because the frost wave propably caught them in their peak of growth, little before they would flower. some didnt flower at all...

The purples make it look even better

I followed Thunderhorse and put this guy back into the ground (after some winter struggles, hence the split)

Re-location

Seedlings are really starting to come into there own and become easily identifiable from eachother love the individual differences

particularly enjoying psycho0 x yowie characteristics putting on immense girth with interesting spine positions and colouring .

Brother and sister cuts I received from godless have literally almost  doubled in girth being about 8-10 cm diameter when I received them and easily 15cm now despite it being winter there still powering along , cheers again for them mate

still havnt moved my bigger cactus as I'm unsure If they will survive a trailer ride and as they are way to big for my little car I'm stuck so any tips would be appreciated

Brother and Sister look great Fozzking, I'm going to have to buy a pair or two in spring I reckon (providing godless has some left). They rooted & started growing bloody quick for you aye? SEQ must be a lovely warm environment for them. I think I purchased some bridgesii cuts even before you purchased your brother/sister & some of mine have done nothing still. Tis' a bit more cold and hostile down here me thinks...

Its becoming a nightmare running outside to bring them all undercover when the rain comes, for it to only rain for half hour then stop! lol.
So I've purchased this pissy little greenhouse I can screw down to the deck, should hold about about 30x 23cm pots (more if I build a shelf in there)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope those sibling bridgesii get picked up by lots of peeps and they become a common clone.

Yeah skelly , the weather up here is obviously perfect for them still having 20 degree days where I'm at ,  only just started dropping down to under 10 degrees at night in the last week , a lot of my cacti are still powering along like they haven't even noticed they should have gone dormant hahaha

i mean the siblings have rooted , doubled in girth and have grown 6-10 cm in the last few months

feel blessed to be in the environment I'm in

yeah id love to see them become a much more common clone , they are amazing cacti

Finally finished off my garden after initially using the 'wrong' stones and then losing interest/procrastinating for two years.

^ looks great CrayZ.
Why do you consider the white stones as being 'wrong', are they too large hindering pups from poking up?

The scoria is a nicer look too & with that brick line straightened up and the weeds fucked off shes looking like a real nice neat little patch.
Well done mate  :)  Watcha got in there - peru, bridge and pach?

The white stones are too scrappy looking.  When I went back to the landscape supplier to get a couple more bags (as you do), they'd changed the formula - all sorts of colours and sizes.  The crushed terra cotta however is uniform and the contrast between the red of the rock and the green of the cacti is really nice.  Also, the terra cotta is more weedproof (if such a thing exists).

Pach (El Pedro and San Pedro), bridgesii, cuzcoensis, knuthianus, scop x super pedro and an absolutely beautiful Trich called 'Lance' that is just crying out to be cactus of the month.  Amazingly, not a single peruvian (but got some seedlings in the pipeline).

thanks man and i darent put all of them in the ground lol but I have planted a few in the ground ... that will be staying out for winter testing ...

as far as the potted ones go tho ..., they'll need to come indoors in a few months if they haven't had a greenhouse built for them by then which is looking unlikely so far ...
