The Corroboree
bit

What did you do to your cacti today?

Recommended Posts

Hacked off a piece of my TBCM and grafted it a few days ago. Did the same to my LW crest,... hacked 2 pieces off and grafted them.

Confident that the TBCM took.

The LW crest I am not so sure off. (Don't ask me why I went ahead with hylocereus (1st time) graftstock that I might have been on the slightly dry side )

Had a look at them today,... and I'm gravitating towards positive side with one of the LW cresties.

Snow rolled in and the escobaria and some echinocereus are staying out! Amazing what they can go through. They pretty much looked like dried figs with a bunch of spines on them before the snow came.

this fella gets to stay out this year... my first test with cold hardy peru on a native opuntia base... I really should

have had this in the ground by now eh... already one freezing night past in this pic and looking tough.. tonight an even colder freeze but I put a styro cup over the tip for the night

So yeah - wow, I really filled up the hoophouse this year. I've got to come up with a game plan for next year
to make room for a bunch of these once they're potted up ... somehow it all just sorta worked out with space

wow is this cat wild ,TH?

I havent been having the best month.. I had the most awful back ache crisis, I now know that I have a 7mm slipped disk (also a smaller one), and have been in bed most of the time this month. I am even writing lying as we speak. Have taken pills by the dozens (I was even prescribed the psychoactive pregabalin (Lyrica) for the pain). I am pretty better now and starting physiotherapy tomorrow, but still have to be very careful. I still haven't full motion range and of course I cannt carry pots, especially wet heavy pots, as I shoulndnt even bend. anyways.

Not seeing the cacti as often had me in awe seeing the cacti again today- wasnt able to go up on the roof for the first 2 weeks. Once again I see that cacti love south mediterranean automn.. it has to be their best growing season during the year... excepting the genuses like Stenocactus that have to be protected from rain in early November tops, all cacti seem to be loving this wet weather. All my newly-rooted Myrtillocactus crests cuttings pumped and are thriving also the stenocereus crests. Some Arios were flowering at the other greenhouse I went to get some plants sold.

those trichos that I pollinated with Yowie (and I think there was one fruit from anothers day spontaneous pollination) made huge and very seedy fruits. Mandrakes are flowring and I also found some mandrake seedlings.. The "melted wax" semi-monstrosa bridgesii is fantastic, having the opportunity to see it evolve a bit.

A varied collection with lots of action is a blessing , ciao, peace!

PS: hope to be able to get some shots soon

dang dude was gna mail u a bit ago to ask if u wr any better

wishn you healing vibes buddy

lol yes the cat was definitely wild when i rescued her from some old folk I used to help out.. when they moved into warden aided accommodation, she used to only let me go near her n follow me home , sometimes miles,

to be honest they really mistreated her and their fat dog used to rob her food so she's doubled in size (at age 12 -they think) since living with me ...

even still now she will go for a night walk if thrs hardly any folk or traffic around - lol if some does come she fks off into a bush and then i look like a dumbass calling kitty noises to a bush or lol someones car ...

and she never comes out till theyre gone , luckily I'm back whr I grew up now and most folk know me

had her 4 years now, even when I was homeless.. at the end of that period

also her fur thru the "lenz" is amaaazing ,

definitely a wicce's cat that one, knows when to be present and when to be gone , priceless : 3

... today I watered the trichos for probably the last time (this year) and sat with them reminiscing 2 and a bit years ago...maybe 3 shrug?gallery_14443_761_96990.jpgpost-14443-0-77628500-1416177911_thumb.j

oh yeah since snaking the tip of collossus :P

I figured they could do with front row seats on the sunlight and artificials and bigger pots too ...

as all the other good-assed cuttings, still creamn over this new rooted pach pup from germany ...

with any luck juul's grows that slow I may have avoided snaken it there.. idve been rlly upset had I have terribly misnaked her for a pear

I finished work and ran around my plants in the rain throwing blood and bone and dynamic lifter pellets in their pots. And some old longnecks of two month old urine (my toilet was busted couldn't be arsed walking outside at nighttime, yeah I know I'm a dero) that I'd forgotten about into all my cacti posts, I thought why not.

that urine was diluted huh.....?.....can burn otherwise I think....I over did it on my guava seedlings... a diluted mix 90% H2O, few weeks old....next day the leafs were all shrivelled & dry...hope they revive...flushed their pots with water...but the cacti seedlings may take a little longer to show signs of burning...maybe my piss is super strength lol..........never had the issue with blood & bone...may return to using it...urine 's a bit risky me thinks..

tobacco datura and brugs seem to like a drop of the pure more

... and the odd yellowing/pupping cacti about thrice diluted then thrice diluted again :innocent_n:

its not as if there are enough nitrosomonas and nitrobacter to deal with a colossal dump of ammonia to break down to nitrite/nitrate without assistance and even then....

forcing the plants to do it can definitely slow them down too

but i often wonder how it may ride with acacias .. and other pee i mean pea family
