This is one of the rarest cacti that is virtually unknown in cultivation. The plant on sale was bought on early 90th as a small shoot grafted on Trichocereus. In the 1998-1999 winter the grafting stock died and it was only possible to save a few branches. These cuttings were put on fine pumice grit to make them to root, but it was possible to save only one pieces...it is the plant here showed in the photos. It was always cultivated in full sun, respecting the dormancy periods and now it is a strong, healthy specimen which appear typical in shape and colour. Young spines are golden yellow while older one take darker (almost black) colouration. It is a unique and very rare specimen and it is almost impossible to find other similar plants in cacti collections. It is also impossible to find seeds or small grafted specimens on the trade. This is one of expensive and rarest cacti in the world.

And I think that symbol in the link means the price is in Euros.

AKA "lava cactus":

"As its name suggests, the lava cactus occurs exclusively on barren lava fields, lying at sea level. Not only is it one of the few plants that survive in this extremely dry, challenging habitat, it is often one of the first plants to colonise a fresh lava flow."
