Best crops for survival gardening

Recommended Posts

Just adding one to the list - I've found that in the subtropics I'm really digging Madagascar beans - perennial climber vine, so only plant it once, I've got them in pretty shitty clay soil but once established I haven't watered them at all and I'm still getting loads of huge beans off it which seem to dry really easily for storage (good for survival sitchos I guess to have stuff you can store for hard times). Low fuss, hardy as heck and decent producer :)

Also beautiful beans, speckled red and white.

@Anodyne they're a cultivar of butter bean/lima bean...it's probably just a less commonly grown one, but I love em!

1 acre of hemp produces 700lb of seed that can make around 500lb of high protein flour.

The oil wold be around 100lb this can power generators and operate farm machinery.

no wonder it's illegal.
