Good cactus nursery in Greater Sydney area

Recommended Posts

I buy plenty of cactus and other plants from various vendors on the internet, including our own wonderful SAB, but occasionally, I prefer to just look around and see things in the flesh.

What's your favourite Sydney area nursery? I'm especially interested in nurseries with good cactus collections (and not necessarily just trichs and lophs), but any nursery of note would be of interest to me (and others, I suppose).

List 'em here, guys!

Hamilton's is an obvious one, but they're actually pretty shit.

Urban Tribes is worth a look if you get the opportunity.

Arizona Cacti Nursery used to be a good one, but they shut down many years ago.

Don't know of any others...

Hi, I work at Newtown Garden Market on King St. We have a pretty good selection of cacti, Mostly hamiltons stock, some paradisia and my least favorate, dans cactus. We have some TBMs, pachanoi, candicans. We have a strange hairy echenopsis cultivar from japan called 'Haku Joe' looks like a good candidate for crossing with some of our fav trichos. We also have some mytillocactus and a few crests including a Monvilea spegazzi.

Worth a look for sure, cheers.

I'll second that the Newtown Garden Market is definitely worth a look as they've got a good selection and lophty_tricho is pretty a helpful staff member!

there is a large nursery on gardners road, I thnk the suburb is botany. called Gardens r us.

They have a fairly large selection of cacti, I the past i have seen a 150cm pach in there, a 40cm or so peruvianus that was really blue, and decent size spachs. I bought a 30cm scop from there a while ago. I think they are from hamiltons but there is no way to be sure as there not labelled.

They have 2 large benches covered in other smaller cacti too.

Problem is the larger cactus really arent cheap.

3: Echinopsis var 'Haku Joe'

4: Mammillaria elongata

5: Echinocactus grusonii
