Id be keen to drop in for a chat - but im a bit of a tard when it comes to internet technology and dont have much of a clue how to set it all up. If ya feel id make a good contribution to the chat room drop me a pm and give me some rough instructions( or *the secret password* ) nights like tonight when im stuck at home with the flu it'd be good to drop in and say hi and maybe get to know a few of you weirdos a little better

Hey Tipz. If i managed to hook up to IRC ( internet relay chat) , then anyone can do it . :)

get a irc client, windows = Mirc , linux = Xchat.

Connect to the server austnet,

random server

and then join #thelab

Yeah, so google mIRC, but there are others like mibbit etc. . I cant remember it all exactly , but see how you go. You will know if you are in the right place because you will see @chanOp to your right. See you in #thelab.

afaik.this shits me^^^-cause i kinda love the chatty aspect

can't we have some type of chatalertlab bell somewhere :scratchhead: ie interested members who wanna chat see who's on and jump in for a cuppa and a gabba gabba do

obviously, this thang aint dead - as postulated by some members.

seems to me many members are disappointed-like me , at the lack of cohesion in this lab chat

hence, can some e savvy sabber help with the lab chat gabba room?

.....slinks off to his lair

or do we need to mobilize our energies

loveth

Just a quick question for those that frequent the lab.

What's everyones views on people sitting idle in the chatroom 24/7 without logging out ?

I dont think these people/person is, or are logging converstaions for any reason :scratchhead: ... but it's a bit weird having someone there the whole time your trying to have a conversation with someone.

I just think it's a little strange, bordering intrusive. It actually stops me from going in to talk with people... Maybe it's just me ?

Opinions ?

Yeah, i get what you are saying tipz and am not a fan of constant idling. #thelab is for chatting, not idling. If you read back through this thread you will see it was discussed some time back . At one point there was a 20 min' idle time, and after that, you were automatically booted, but this upset some of the visitors to #thelab and so it was removed. You cant please everyone. If you register , you can private message people whilst using IRC.

:)
