Mitragyna Speciosa in Koh Samui

Is Kratom native to koh samui? before the ban of this fabulous medicinal plant was it sold at markets or herbalists? how did people find the leaf material? In the current prohibation is it still used by the native peoples?

is it strictly enforced in thailand or can foreigners purchase and experience kratom? My friend goes over in a few weeks and wants to try it!!

No idea if it grows there but if it does check along lowland wet areas, especially big slow moving rivers. thats my limited experience seeing it growing wild. Never been to that area before though, so no idea if it grows there or not.
