Hi Thomas, Could be some kind of conocybe. But it also could be a galerina. I doubt it will be possible for someone to give a defintive ID without a Sporeprint. bye Eg

seems like you have a genuine psilocybe pelliculosa there, its hallucinogenic and edible I'm pretty sure.

I'm not familiar with that particular species, but that don't look like a psylocybe stem to me :scratchhead:

if they are the ones like this I know around brisbane... they tend to grow in cow manure, usually a good indicator for the right conditions for cubensis, but are more prolific. not sure of the species. not active IME.

yes kalika, exactly that. thanks! thing is, the dirt in this yard was all hard, red dirt. i found this mushroom in a wheelbarrow of mulch... only one in the yard... but i collected a few of those spiderwebby mushroom babies from the park down the street and "planted" them in various damp logs in the backyard. they started growing too! but a bit of a bummer because i left before i could see them properly fruit. there was a horse stable behind the house (unfortunately no access) as well, wish I could've explored it.

anyway, thanks for your input everyone!

this is dangerous.

LBMs are impossible to ID like that.

hello everyone, again, can you please help me ID this little fellow? found in the blue mountains, days of (lightly) rainy weather, amongst leaf litter. my new house is set high on a cliffside and has acres of bushland to explore. we've begun to move in and will continue so through this coming week; I can't wait to properly explore. thanks for your help!

well hi there mr negative vibes. I do apologise for the bad quality photo. rather than solely rattling off what is wrong and not done well, why not enlighten with what should be done next time? treat everybody as both a student and a teacher and life will taste all the sweeter.

well,

0. Read, read, read. then read some more. and read the sticky threads in here.

what to notice more next time:

1. gills colour, spore print colour

2. habitat

3. take plenty of photos, from various angles, the gills too

4. take the time to describe the mushroom

5. Read about the lethal lookalikes, f.e. Galerina. Look how similar Galerina looks to the untrained eye. Spot the differences.

6. Read other Iding threadshere and elsewhere.

happy hunting and stay safe!
