Indian cactus garden

Recommended Posts

Hey all just wanted to share some pics of an amazing cactus garden we visited on our recent trip through Asia.

It's called 'PINEVIEW Nursery' (LINK) and is located in a town called Kalimpong which is in the hills in the north east of India, not far from the famous town of Darjeeling. It has some spectacular views of the Himalayas off in the distance and does some great food, and you can even stay there for peanuts.

I snapped off some pics while we were there thinking of you guys, and there are also heaps more on their site. Enjoy!

Firstly here is the owner - very lovely lady as you can imagine (just unfortunate that it looks like she's having a scratch)

And WTF is up with that insanely pink coloured trich flower? I notice she's grafting those, so assume it's worth more than others or has higher demand.

Hey yeah what is that? I thought it was a Echinocereus of some type . Didn't click on it close up , it does look tricho-ish..

How do they make that graft (of the insane pink one) look like it's exploding with all those multiple arms? Note also that it's pupping like crazy. I thought I had lost interest in grafting, but I'd love to make something look like that.

Fantastic, thanks for the pics.

Goes to show you can find cacti enthusiasts gardens from sea-level to the Himalaya's. Beautiful set-up and specimens.

What's the thickly ribbed, large diameter, columnar cactus in the same shot with the owner?

Think I saw one very similar in someones front yard in SA and couldn't identify it?

Great pics, must have been a great trip.
