Billit mines pretty blue, blow up a pic of diesel. In sunlight u can see slight tiger like stripes emerge- fuken cool I say, but unless they are in bright sun they are completely blue. Maynard does have a TiNy amount of white hair on his chest, like 9 hairs. I'm gonna show him for something to do on a weekend. Get him to champion status.

Incog he looks like a lovely pup. Staffords are such a happy and kind hearted breed.

You'll probabaly find that the brindle will get darker as he ages and should be more prominant in about 6months+
Having a blue coat he will be more prone to skin issues so the more dark pigment he has the better for his skin and it will give him a really unique look :) A good sunscreen is important for blues.

His dad diesel is blue and 4 yrs old. U can't see the brindle in him unless u take him out in the sun and only from certain angles. The owner reckons Maynard is way bluer than diesel ever was so here's hoping he keeps his blue hue. I'm not going to worry about sunscreen to much, owner never used it on diesel and diesel is fine. I mean if he had a fair coloured nose or ears then yes but surely a coat of blue fur is adequate.

I'm pretty keen to show him, my family have all shown various breeds with great success, I've been around dog shows since I could crawl. There aren't to many blue English staffs around so yeah shouldn't be a hassle to get him right up there.

Blues are relatively new to Australia in a wide spread sense and they can demand a much higher price online and in the classifieds so its lead to many people breeding for colour due to the dollars rather than for soundness of body and mind.

So with a history of poor breeding along with blue being washed out black caused by a recessive gene blue Stafford’s tend to have more health issues, particularly with their skin. (That’s why sunscreen is advised for blue Stafford’s in particular)

Thankfully that’s less of a problem these days because the type is coming along with age and there are good breeders getting into it as the stigma about blues drops but there is still a fair bit of a fuss about them in the show world and people/judges can get a bit snooty about them sometimes.

That’s why you don’t see too many Blues winning at Stafford shows... yet...

So if you have a blue that has great form and a sound temperament you should be able to do really well because they are very rare.

The Staff show scene is still very young and a bit disorganised but the community is great fun and the dogs get along surprisingly well considering the breed.

Really, what kind of breeds did you grow up showing?

My family have been involved with GSD's since I opened my eyes and my old man is a judge and ex breeder, I would love to get involved in them again but need a big property.

Max, the Staff in my album on FB was an attempt to stablise the blues.
They chose a long running grand champion (Spud) with excellent conformation and a big solid head which is what its all about at Stafford shows and the bred him with a very light blue dam.

She had the traditonal blue look of being a bit finer and less square in the head, more like a pitbull in type and a bit nutty.

Unfortuntaly none of the litter turned out blue but the genes were transfered and 3 generations down the line they have nice looking blues popping up that are getting closer and closer to Spuds shape and temperament.

You can see his mum and dad in the album too if it interests you.

Mum started with red kelpies which she was very successful with. She then got into boxers, and finished up with pugs, with Bich she was again successful on a national level. She's given it all up now though she jut has a yard of very old pug dogs.

Th guy I'm getting my pup off is in it for the breed. He's now had two litters of blues so it Seems blue English staffs are here to stay. At least in the cenral west. Mums looked Over him, he's still to young really to assess his form.

I'm keen to show him will give me something to do and will be good for socialising him.

Bullit we are talking pedigree 'English' SBTs not AmStaff/Bullie/Pitbulls.

Blue Am Staffs like the ones in your pictures are not that rare (or blue Pits or Bullies), a solid blue pedigree 'English' stafford thats has good conformation on the other hand is not common.

Dont get me wrong, they have been around for ages and are super common in the UK but in Aus they are still a novelty, otherwise you couldnt get away with charging more money, could you?

Thats where as a lot of the blue comes from in modern Aus breeding lines and is what more than often leads to a lack of conformation because they are too big, lanky and fine to be considering a good structure and frame for an SBT.
This is why its taking so long to get good showing stock with blue coats, they have to bring in the blue from 'various' lines, breed them with a really solid champ and then work backward, back crossing and line/inbreeding toward the original form.

I think they look great, I do however have an issue with people breeding for colour in order to charge more money as it leads to poor practises.

Kelpies hey. cool, I never had much time for them until the last few years but recently both Kelpies and Cattle dogs have been growing on me a lot.

Definitely get into some kind of showing or agility or weight pulling or something, its SO much fun and builds that bond so quickly and tightly.

Its a shame you arent closer to the GC as I could hook you right into the local showing/working network as Im friends with a couple of good Stafford judges up here who also own Kennels.

My mums name is like royalty in the nsw dog showing circles. I've already had offers from judges to come check him out once his big enough, just because I'm Joan's son. She's connected like Tetris and knows the show game backwards so I'm lucky in those regards.

At the end of the day I just want a mate I can chuck on the back of the ute and go camping/fishing with and share a few bulbs.

It would be silly however to have a purebred with papers blue coated English staff and not try and get him his accolades. I'm not gonna sure him out to any wankstains who want a cool looking pig dog I'm gonna do my best to respect the breed and contribute to great looking ebts :)

I agree people who breed dogs for money are in the game for all the wrong reasons.

Thats interesting mate, you probabaly have some familiar childhood memories as me then.. haha, it seemed pretty crap most of the time back then but a lot of it was great too and I wouldnt trade it for naught.

I was training to be a junior GSD judge and handler for years as a young kid but when I got into the drug scene about 14yrs that stopped pretty quickly.

Perhaps your Mum and My Dad know each other as he is also well known in the show dog world.

I love all bully breeds, with a passion.
Like I said, Max was 1/2 blue.

Whats your definition of rare?
Ive been to maybe a dozen SBT and AMStaff shows in the last few years, I saw maybe 1 for every 15 other colours and few of those were in the ring.

If you compare the ratio of blue to any other colour I think youll find its quite small. to me that means rare, hence the price.
(Incidently, I wasnty suggesting that you personaly breed for colour and dollars, I meant in general)

Plus there is a big differnce between a registered dog with papers and a pedigree dog of good quality. all a registered dog has to do is have parents that were registered and so on.
With all the dog breed legislation here and O/S and the cross over of kennel club registrations in the US and UK there is a lot of dubious registrations and papers for bully breeds in general.
