The first beer released is the Wattle Seed Ale, which starts with a blend of Australian and European malts, creating a rich flavour base of caramel with a hint of chocolate. The smooth malt flavours are lightly hopped and then infused with roasted Wattle Seed, bringing a unique and authentic Australian flavour to this fine red ale. The result is an outstanding ale that boasts a smooth taste profile balancing its robust character, an ultimately rewarding yet distinctive beer. At 5.8% ABV and offering a long and lasting flavour, the Wattle Seed Ale is best enjoyed with or after a meal, complimenting a juicy steak, rack of lamb, or a prosciutto and rockmelon starter. Alternatively, this select ale will be enjoyed at almost any occasion by those who enjoy something special in a beer.

This beer is worth looking for and is very deserving of the Beer Guide Australia - Beer of the Year (2006).

Wattleseed Extract is a highly versatile and nutritious flavouring for sauces, bavarois, creme brulee, ice cream, pavlova, crumbs or as a coffee substitute.

To make a Wattleccino™ is simple with Wattleseed extract - just dilute a tablespoonful of extract with a quarter cup of hot water and top up with frothed milk). Also try Wattleseed extract as a flavouring for beer, cream or red wine sauces, in marinades and dessert sauces.

Approximate usage rate is from 2-3%, depending on the flavour of other ingredients and whether the watttle is enhancing or competing with these other tastes.post-5986-128324729301_thumb.jpg

And to give you a little insight into the future, we are now looking at new Wattleseed extracts made with liquid carbon dioxide (sub-critical CO2) extraction techniques

Make your own mind up. I have only posted this for humour and to show our international friends.............mmmmmm we have wattleseed beer. It's not going to rock the world or make you high but isnt it great we can actually eat and drink all the characters from our coat of arms.

Who the hell are Ben Cousins and Jennifer Hawkins?

I haven't tried this beer, but there's another wattleseed beer, I think called Black Wattle, which I remember being mighty tasty. Though not the kind of beer you want to drink a 6 pack of.

Hey racketemensch.

Ben Cousins is an AFL(aussie rules football) player who has won premierships, captain, sacked, reborn, wannabe gangsta boy next door, has a $10000 6 day coke binge apparently fairly regulary and now just released a doco which shocked australia about his secret world. Basically our football codes first glamour boy.

Jennifer Hawkins won Miss Universe only a few years back.....you know the most beautiful woman in the world comp. rolleyes.gif

I wonder if you had the same beer if you enlarge the pic its Black Wattle beer.

Hmm, yeah coulda been the same one Santiago, I just don't remember the Baron being on the bottle. Are there Dan Murphy's in Western Oz? They'd have it almost certainly.

Ive been drinking that beer for months - its made by Barons and you cant really taste much of the wattle - its a very chocolatey dark beer and its pretty heavy. they also do a tidy chelada-style citrus infused beer with lemon myrtle which is ok but a little musty.

There was a company making gin with aussie herbs that was really impressive. Cant find a link now though.
