faustus Posted July 8, 2010 ahoy comrades! thought i'd emerge from the shadows to start a new thread for the 2010 EGA haiku poetry competition. in last year's competition we had over 125 submissions and due to the overwhelming response, ronny has very kindly donated 2 tickets to this year's 2010 entheogenesis australis conference on december 4-5 in melbourne. for some reasons on why attending the EGA conference would be a good life choice visit www.entheo.net if you're unfamiliar with haiku, it's a type of japanese poem with a very simple structure comprising 3 phrases: 5 syllables 7 syllables 5 syllables the winners of last year's comp were: Mushrooms lay dormant Awaken in the cool rain Mother Earth's third eye -- peaceful_son Immutable force Architectonic template A matter of course -- the dude the rules are simple 1. poems must conform to haiku format 2. submissions must be original 3. entries close noon on sunday 3rd october the prizes are dope 1 x EGA 2010 ticket to the best haiku poem about any topic 1 x EGA 2010 ticket to the best haiku poem with an ethnobotany/psychedelic theme & perhaps most exciting of all... faustus' magickal mystery prize to the haiku poem that makes me laugh the hardest anyone who posted a poem in the other haiku thread after the close of the 2009 competition will be automatically entered into this year's competition. maybe a mod could merge the submissions after july 12 2009 with this thread? otherwise i'll paste them here when i have a free moment. NOTE: the only condition of the EGA ticket prize is that you don't onsell it, but you're free to give it away if you can't attend. so haiku amateurs and pros alike, don't be shy and get crackin'!
