As far as naming goes, Blacky referred to it as Bruce as a reaction to Eileen, I was thinking of it as Bruce Lee so Bruce it was - it wasn't much of a compromise.

Rev's has been the most extreme example of its' monstrosity I have seen, it seems to be the exception rather than the rule but I think Bruce has the potential to do anything.

Kai has never shown any monstrosity for me, soft or hard grown, so I still lean towards blind chance.

Well after neglecting Bruce for the last year (hoping to induce flower) looks like i have been lucky. Although i think the weird rain early on this summer may have more to do with it, amlst all bridgesii that have never flowered before have decided to this season M&D a friend had decided to, and now Bruce. Poor Bruce hasnt been fed or watered at all this dam hot summer, He is a yuky lime colour, and now showing signs of de-hydration. When i saw the first sign of a flower bud i held back on everything. It took soo soo long for the bud to form, then yesterday i noticed this:

:D

Awesome huh? :D Ill collect some pollen as well as try to make a hybrid x between M&D and Bruce. Should be a lovely X if all thing go well.

Alright, I recently got to see -first hand- some of oz clones. They're smallish though.

Omar + Rob which come as pachanois certainly look like they have scop in. In fact I also got to know what a scop is like by these same clones, as my summer obtained fatty cuts of what got characterised here as pachanoi/scop X did not have these dusty colouration in new growth - so perhaps it took mostly the fatty genes!

Lance is also like that, as discussed here and I will love seeing them all grow and compare to the 'real' scop!

This was an observation from me alone reg the scop incredident.

But Trout interestingly notes that scop was used for a long time and thought to be a pachanoi in oz, and this, taking the interesting scop qualities into account, might explain why you guys have so many interesting and distinct clones. Does this make sense to anyone?

Thankfully and hopefully, the saga of oz clones will continue in other continents... ;)

I would love to see photos of grown 'omar' and 'rob' clones if anyone has them !!!

Anyone out there own the mother plants?

Rob is pretty different to super pedro imho, grows fat but not as fat as superpedro. Pups more and is a faster grower from my expierience. Cant reflect on the lance/cordo tho..

edit; Probally the same

Have the two, so if the ever flower at the same time ill try to cross them, see what happens.

Nice to know. I own lance/cordobensis & rob. I concluded more or less that superpedro is probably lance/cordobensis from pics and discussions here in another thread. MS commented on photos of Rob that is was probably the same too. It does look similar. I won't have much to say for a while as I hacked them for propagation purposes, but the tip about Rob pupping more is useful to notice in the future as next year I will have 3 robs and 3 lances :drool2: For what it worth they have pupped once each for me so far.

Is there such a thing as a Greek named clone?

heh, not that I am aware of. Greece is really 'tuned out' of ethnos & psychs for the most part, let alone growing them. Despite the good climate, local gardening supliers seem to live in mid ages, and this reflects on people and the market here in general gardening.

Anyways, there is an interesting bridge clone a friend found in central greece, I don't own it yet. Pacha, located in mid east, has a similar clone or had shown photos of it. It was has been a while since I saw that photo and don't really remember in which thread. maybe Pacha reads this and remembers which clone I mean? MS had expressed interest for the clone and he said it might be related to the PC [the infamous backeberger clone] mystery. I too thought it was a bridgesii that showed resemblance to PC pachanoi.

Anyways, I think this clone might be of interest and maybe it deserves a name too.

I also have a grafted lopho from seed on selinicereus , from rahli I think, this deserves a name too, maybe rahli.

note all this is more sentimental and is basically helping remember the different clones you got. "this is from the seed a nice dude from oz sent me" doesn't do it justice and its too long. 'rahli' is cool! but mostly for me. It looks awesome so far!

then there are my wendermanianus and terscheckiis, especially my biggy wendermanianus that was grafted in the past and is plump as hell!

what about the puppy kk339 that incognito sent me. It's seed sown anyway. This deserves a name and a special mention, maybe.. It pups a hell lot for me! It usually throws 3 each time. Active season, cut a 30cm tip, root and grow. In 4 months I bet my dick It has thrown 2 or 3 pups. This is tha clone that got me into the thing. As soon as inco sent to me as a freebie for newbies, I started getting more cacti, and started taking care of the few cacti that existed in my home and whom I did not take care of till then.

All these occasions deserve names. I am also growing from seed lots of other genera of cacti, and these days I sawed some 2000 seeds. just a few of them where lopho and tricho [will do another session soon with EG's T.glaucus that sounds interesting]. So, for now, I am growing f.e. Astrophtytums in much greater number than lophs and trichos - from seed. There is much more possibility to have a strange phenotype in greater numbers of seeds sown. ANd its far more interesting to know the parents of your seedlings, which is the case f.e. for all of my new Astro sowing.

To conclude, about names too

To coin a name and spread it, I think, as others have suggested, there has to be some special treat in the phenotype of the clone to distribute it under that name. In a sense of var. or forma , people have casually refered to specific phenotypes. In the Trichocereus sector though, and for Trichoecereus enthusiasts only, these names become of some importance, if people don't over do it with made-up names for the same clones.

For now, instead of giving more names, we should clear up, f.e. that rob looks a lot like lance/cordobensis and that lance/cordobensis clone is probably what is commonly called superpedro

I think it would be more honest for me to take my time with cacti before coining a name . After all it's almost 3 years I am into it. And in regards my trichos, I chop them a lot, so I know I haven't really seen what they can do.

Summer of 2007, when I bought a bridgesi and a pachanoi from the us, the pachanoi turned up a PC. A friend of mine not into culti had taken the PC , me the bridge. I took a couple of cuts in the begining of fis plant which I initially kept for him, and made my own PCs. But his only plant, that he has NOT chopped or propagated ever, which eventually went to a big container, boy, its huge and impressive! Well it's still a pc, but fuck, I can't wait until different clones mature side by side and reach 1,5 meter or height or something !!

So it seems as if T.peruvianus "Gnosis" are characterized as cuzcoids. I find peruvianus "Steve" also looks somewhat similar. So, has anyone's snail eaten Gnosis or Steve and if yes, where they confirmed to be duds, as cuzcos would be expected to be?

Anywayz, it seems strange a cuzcoid would be named Gnosis [=knowledge] if it were dud? Any thoughts? I think one of two guys here sure have both Gnosis and Steve. Also, more pics of these clones would be sweet.

Hell I think even Teotz approoved of Gnosis [or was it Steve] as a true blue peruvian :innocent_n:

I would consider Steve to be a cuzco also.

I wonder if this is why Steve got a name....

Anyone had his Steve {Cuzcoid - peruvianoid} do this? I remember some rib play earlier too.

Update: It seems Steve is lots faster growing and more puppy than Gnosis
