"Prague - The Czech government today approved the list of hallucinogenic plants and mushrooms, including hemp, coca, mescaline cactus and magic mushrooms, and decided that people would be allowed to grow up to five pieces of such plants and keep 40 magic mushrooms at home, a CTK source said.

The cabinet was today also expected to discuss artificial drugs and a permitted amount of these drugs in people's possession.

However, it postponed the debate for two weeks, the source said.

The new Penal Code, which will take effect on January 1, is designed to specify the government's directive. It contains a special provision on the growth of hemp and magic mushrooms.

The government today also approved a directive on the use of anabolics and the list of diseases that will be considered congenial, according to the criminal law.

The law distinguishes between the possession of marijuana and hashish for people's personal needs, for which they will face up to one year in prison, from the possession of other drugs for which they can receive up to two years in prison.

According to the Justice Ministry's proposal that the government did not approve today, the possession of over 15 grammes of dried marijuana or over two grammes of methamphetamine (pervitine), cocaine and heroin will be punishable.

The tolerated amount of drugs in people's possession is at present defined by police internal directives. No one thus knows precisely what amount is considered an amount "larger than a small amount of drug," the possession of which is punishable by the law.

If the government approves the ministry's proposal without changes in two weeks, people will be able to have four pills of ecstasy in their possession and up to five grammes of hashish."

At first this seems like a step forward, but upon second inspection it is quite tarded.

It has worked well in Holland and was expanded there. First it was 4 pills, but then some court cases showed that it was unreasonable for a person to be punished who procured or carried pills for their partners or closest friends, so the limit was increased to 10.

10 pills is quite unrestrictive for personal consumption and sharing with your close friends, which should never be a criminal offence anyway.

Oz has a long way to go....

Why the hell do they want to limit the number of Ariocarpus you can grow?

WTF?

-Because they are retarded, like i said. It is the gradual introduction of a police state under the guise of freedom to grow what you want. Like shruman said, this would fuck up a lot of collections. Is there going to be a cacti growers database? they more ornamental than anything anyway, as are a lot of plants regardless of the goodies in them, and to limit the amount you can have, based on a presupposition that all that you are growing is intended to be a psychoactive substance, not just a fricken plant, is retarded. Because all this is shown under the light of increasing freedom, its not hard to sell your liberty for it...

"Oh what, now I'm allowed to grow this? sure I'll walk you through my garden so you can know exactly what substances i have, with no ulterior motive for collecting such data. Sure! Too easy!"

"Oh what!?! You're going to fine me something ridiculous because my garden looks this fricken nice! - err.. what you think I'm gonna smoke/ingest all of this?"

"Well really I was hoping to grow what i want when i want as long as it doesn't harm others, if it is in MY garden it is under my control, and my responsibility, my domain biatch, who are you to limit my freedoms in the first place?"

Lightening these restrictions is to appeal to the hearts of plantheads and appear accepting of alternative medicines and ones own right to grow/extract them... Still within their restrictions, so that the state again has control over your life which you happily give up because of the ruse of increasing freedoms... so don't be happy people!

Be Indignant. be very very indignant!

Hmmm, interesting changes, some good, some not so much.

What the hell is with restricting the number of Astrophytums, Mamillaria grahamii, Turbinicarpus', Pelecyphora aselliformis and others??!

Oz has a long way to go....

Yep.

Yeah I thought this was rather odd too.

I'm guessing this legislation is really going to decimate some cactus collections over there, especially those specialising in said genera.

Thinking about it perhaps now that youths there looking for cheap thrills will be attracted to these (-rather obscure cacti from a contemporary ethnobotanical viewpoint-) and see them as being drugs rather than as plants, and so they will more than likely ingest them; perform bioassays on them- and so inadvertently raise the profile of these plants. Then Maybe Teotz would be interested in their findings pertaining to the psychoactivity of these "Lost Peyotes"! Speak Czech Teotz? hehe. For example, I imagine the number of Astrophytums being ingested there is going to increase substantially in the near future...

Yeah I think his Dudeness may be on to something, Allowed 5 cannabis plants but only to possess 15 grams, unworkable, seems like an easy way to make criminals.

Gubaments by & large seek control & seldom relinquish it.

Hopefully they can work out some of the kinks.

You can easily buy mushrooms and weed FROM some of the clubs in Prague. I was there about a month ago and there is an incredible atmosphere in some of these clubs/pubs; people just sitting down and lighting up, can easily walk up to people and try talk with them and everyone just leaves their bags and coats at the side of the room. My friend found out about the buying of weed accidentally. She went to the bar and asked for a bag of chips, the guy behind the bar misheard and turned around with a small bag of weed :D

I think it's a good evolution, nothing tarded here...

"Apparently you can only grow upto 5 of: "controled" cactae "

I am sure this is a legal measure so as to make sure noone makes nurseries full of Trichocereus or other mescaline producing cacti, now that personal usage laws are less strict... to ensure the personal usage is what they're trying to protect if I am not mistaking, which is brilliant.

I am sure no collector will be busted for having a wonderful collection guys! Read between the lines of the measure.

I read somewhere something about minimal amounts alowed and it's the quantities a user and not a seller would possess. like a gram of coke and heroin, 10 grams or so of grass, 3-4 doses of lsd, something along these numbers...

That they would "control" a number of Cactaceae that are not known to contain any restricted chemicals or have any known psychoactive effects it completely retarded and every grower of these plants should be concerned.

It almost seems as if their govt did an internet search for psychoactive cacti and it came up with Teotz' Lost Peyotes list...:lol:
