The Bear sent me some tentative topics today, can not post anything yet as we have not decided conclusively, but I can say they sure sound interesting, and it was the first really glimpse into what we are in for from him.

Look out Nov :wink:

Bearly legal....

http://blotterart.com/bearschoice.aspx

We have to get one for the raffle signed

:cheerleaderpuke:

Damn...some of that blotter art is pricey...a felix the cat print with leary's signature across it is $1500.00

if this stuff is worth as much as I'm seeing then a signed Bear one for the EGA raffle would definitely be wicked.

Yin and Yang headlining EGA in 2009;

First we announced that we where bring the 'Bear' out of the woods and now we are very pleased to announce our second headliner will be Bob Jesse;

Bob Jesse is organizer of the Council on Spiritual Practices (csp.org/about), which aims to shift modernity's awareness and practices with respect to primary religious experience (csp.org/PRE). CSP also encourages people to imagine and develop social contexts to contain such experiences and help them yield lasting benefit.

Through CSP, Bob and his colleagues initiated a study, conducted at Johns Hopkins and reported around the world, of the psychospiritual effects of psilocybin in healthy volunteers (csp.org/psilocybin). This expands the emphasis in hallucinogen research beyond the medical treatment of ill people to include the betterment of well people, contributing to a science of pro-social development.

On his home front, Bob is co-founder of a spiritual community formed around ecstatic dance. His formal training is in engineering.

http://csp.org/about.html

There will be over 25 accompanying speakers, 5 discussion panels and many workshops, drawing the best head from all around Australia to Victoria for this momentous occasion.

In 2006, a paper appeared in the scientific journal Psychopharmacology, titled “Psilocybin can occasion mystical-type experiences having substantial and sustained personal meaning and spiritual significance.” Its findings, from a research team at the Johns Hopkins University, garnered media coverage around the world, as did the team’s 2008 report, “Mystical-type experiences occasioned by psilocybin mediate the attribution of personal meaning and spiritual significance 14 months later.”

In contrast to studying the efficacy of hallucinogens in the treatment of psychiatric problems, the Hopkins research sought to quantify the effects of psilocybin in healthy, well-educated volunteers. Several distinguished scientists wrote commentaries, published alongside the 2006 paper, praising the study’s methodology and the importance of its findings, and encouraging similar research.

Bob Jesse, a study co-author and organizer of the Council on Spiritual Practices, the non-profit that initiated the study, and will discuss the Johns Hopkins project at EGA in 2009.

Ha, anyone wanting an entertaining read should check out Orryelle's drug fuelled adventures in South America, a night spent at Huaynu Picchu comes to mind. Quite a drawer as well.
