Scientists discovered that Tiwanaku (pre-Inca) mummies from the Atacama Desert area, had harmine in hairs from an adult male and a one-year-old baby, who both date to sometime between A.D. 800 and 1200

Thanks Entheo. The only reason I can think this thread hasn't exploded is because people haven't read the article?

You sometimes post papers from outside the public domain, do you have access to this one? The article has several claims I'd like references for, not that I am disputing them. Why do they assume the harmine to be "imported", could be a long (and not so) lost local plant or cactus or whatever?

Also the assumption that the harmine was passed on through mothers milk (although this is of course plausible) but I can recall a few Sth American tribes who dose their children on various things, some at birth...

the article seemed a little simple and silly so i didnt comment........

absorb hallucinogens ?

sniffing drugs....lol.......inhaling herbs......lol

there are other harmine containing plants in sth america.
