apothecary Posted July 16, 2008 It's mine. After I moved out of my parents house I realised there was essentially no hope in moving all these potted cacti without several return trips and that our current backyard was already too chock full of ethno plants for any cacti (the cactus hothouse already full also). So they have essentially been growing unsupervised. No fertilisation, weeding, potting up, etc. I am letting natural selection occur on specimens unsuited to my environ but so far have only had to rescue my Trichocereus peruvianus "Len" (one of my favorite specimens) from winter rain/rot (30+cm specimen rotted to less than 10cm tip). These days it's mostly bridgesii as I have tried to concentrate my collection efforts on them (my favorite species, mostly due to blueing). So here they are. Supposedly the cream of the genetic crop in terms of potency, hardiness and aesthetics. Unlabelled (though I know the ID of almost all of them so feel free to ask) and uncared for. Don't think I love them any less, I just need them to survive till uni is over they will all be going to a nice plot in the country somewhere. Excuse the terrible photo quality. Some of them are "overlaps" 'cos I wanted different angles of some plants.
Conan Troutman Posted July 16, 2008 shockers just looks like you gotta do some weeding (ouch) and if your keen, replace the top 1/3 of soil with new mix give em a light seasol...
Teotzlcoatl Posted July 17, 2008 Very, VERY nice Sina! The 4-ribbed bridgesii and that "True Blue" peruvianus are just beautiful!!!
Ace Posted July 17, 2008 Very envious of the bridgesii Sina. Even when they are neglected they still seem pretty happy with life. It'd be great to see them out of pots and in the soil one day - they'd probably pump out a good extra 10+cms a year if you were able to do so. Jeez, the rest of your collection must be pretty insane if this is just the extras!
apothecary Posted July 17, 2008 (edited) Teotz, the closest specimen I own to a "True Blue" peruvianus, whatever that is, would be Len, which is not in any of those photos. Can you please point out the one you consider to be this specimen? EDIT: Can't believe nobody commented on the spineless bridgesii. Ace Posted July 17, 2008 Can't believe nobody commented on the spineless bridgesii I saw that and thought it must have been eileen - is it a lesser known (or new) clone or is it just a bit of spineless growth? She is damn gorgeous either way
Genesis Posted July 17, 2008 I have a very large farm... Just mentioning it. Great soil. Perfect rainfall for growing cactus. You know cactus like farms yer? Just putting it out there... Nice collection man, can wait to have a little cactus family, like yours, to call my own. Gen
rahli Posted July 17, 2008 Yeah funny you mentioned lack of comment on the spinless bridge. The moment I saw it as I was scrolling through the pics I had a feeling that my finger was just cut off. Must be a freaky clone to produce such strong feelings at a glance. Lovely cactus.

Not that it's the same clone as mine, just that it's a "True/Real" Trichocereus peruvianus and not a shitty cuzconoid like we get here in the states. Nice cacti Sina! Please post a pic of your fav. Peruvianus if you have one, "Len" is it?

I wanna get all these strains/ hybrids of the bridgesii. Very nice collection!!! What is the differnce in the strains? I want to start add these babies to my collection!!! Ace Posted August 21, 2008 What is the differnce in the strains? Mostly just different characteristics such as appearance, spine arrangements, growth speeds, alkaloid profiles, etc. Each seed grown plant is slightly different from its brethren, so it means more diversity in your collection. The ones Sina has listed are very popular due to specific characteristics that make them appealing and as such they are generally shared as cuttings/clones or as parents in seed crosses. Info can be found on most of the clones listed via the search engine, online stores (including SAB) or via google.
Mitosis Posted September 22, 2008 Great pics, Sina, I just found this thread.
apothecary Posted September 23, 2008 Thanks Mitosis, I was just at my parents last night and everything looks um...a lot fatter. I think the rain really plumped them up! Plan to return shortly and give them all a hefty dose of dynamic lifter. Any tips on potting up somehow? I mean, as you can see there are a shitload of cacti that need potting up but I definitely don't have the time or space to give them all new pots (nor a place in the ground yet). incognito Posted September 23, 2008 dont worry bout it sina. just give em a bit of fert and pot /plant when ur ready. they wont care. ive seen rediculously large trichs in the smallest of pots with no sign of ill health. besides that send me some cuttings!!! nice bridg list u got there!
