DreamingNagual Posted May 31, 2008 Well I must say, I have had a fun filled day I promised you all some pics, So for your viewing pleasure here is a little montage of what I came across in my travels today First up these 2 were found in Acacia litter and grass, It is the only the second time I have found subs exclusively in Acacia litter & they stain blue faster and darker than any I have ever seen. They were found on the right hand side of this pic, Just before I reached the bridge area. Now we progress across the next bridge & into Acacias mixed with Manfern & Eucalypts The Ground Cover. This is one happy lil Slug Well I think thats enough from me for this post. Thankyou & I hope you all get some enjoyment from my pics..

poo Posted May 31, 2008 Nice series - interesting seeing the difference in age change each specimen. Curious if this is a spot you have found subs before - sounds like it could be a new spot for you? Thanks for sharing

Undergrounder Posted June 4, 2008 (edited) Thanks yeah... how cool is that water-drop one.. i didn't realise until i looked at the photo at home how nice that turned out. Im not 100% sure that all of the ones in the last photo are subs, but i think there's some blueing on one of the larger ones so i think they all are. These guys are actually only about 15 mins from the city, not far from water either. No reason why they couldn't be anywhere in Sydney at the moment. To be honest it's the only patch i know of in Sydney and it's pretty close to me so im pretty protective of it. I don't need the mushrooms but i'll take heaps of prints and try and spread the spore love around to other areas. If i had time i'd be hunting right now, perfect weather Edited June 4, 2008 by Undergrounder
alkatrope Posted June 4, 2008 What camera (and lens if dslr) was that taken with? Indeed 3 is cool!
apothecary Posted June 5, 2008 (edited) Jebus nice work Undergrounder! Your spot must have a different microclimate to where I poke as there was nothing too impressive after 3 days of this rain, but I imagine by Sunday it'll be cranking. Got some half decent shots anyway. Except for a bit too much flashness. Here are the beginnings of the second flush, same patch as the first post I made in this thread. Now for some much more depressing shots. From the first patch I ever discovered, which was absolutely prolific with the most wonderful fruits. After torrential rains the following year, much of the substrate (and I assume the mycelial mat) was washed into nearby waterways, much to the detriment of some nice spots. Relative seclusion means no council workers or similar to remulch. I left the patch untouched for the last three years and was hoping for a comeback this season. This last survivor of what was once an extremely productive spot which has now been over-run by weeds. I am unsure if perhaps the mycelium had actually completed its task of processing the mulch into something more useful for plant life and that is the possible explanation for both the vanishing act and the massive plant increase in the last two years. (I really love the way this photo glistens) This hopeful little pin on the other side of the riverbank, I was again optimistic for a comeback here but doesn't look too hopeful. There are even more depressing shots of just mulch where there was once carpet Passive I have a special photo coming for you Saturday morning Edited June 5, 2008 by Sina
