apothecary Posted November 21, 2007 http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2007/11/20/2096352.htm A high school student from Mareeba in far north Queensland is in hospital after swallowing one of the potentially toxic beads from banned children's toy Bindeez. The makers of Bindeez initiated a worldwide recall earlier this month after several children became sick from swallowing the beads. The beads are believed to metabolise into toxic drug GHB when ingested. The ambulance service says it picked up a 13-year-old girl, who felt ill after swallowing the bead, from Mareeba High School about 1:30pm AEST and took her to hospital. A Queensland Health spokesman says the girl's in a stable condition. The school has declined to comment on the incident.
alkatrope Posted November 21, 2007 Bit of ambiguity with the "dosage"..
apothecary Posted November 21, 2007 It could have possibly just been a placebo action. Kid eats bindeez, freaks out, and perceives poison effects.
Ace Posted November 21, 2007 (edited) in hospital after swallowing one of the potentially toxic beads Only one? Seems very weak when people have mentioned some 60+ for effects? Perhaps I have come across dodgy figures? Either way, I think you'd have to be a little stupid to intentionally ingest some of these things... Tastes aside - I'm sure the effects/dangers are about as enticing as those found in brugs/daturas... Edited November 21, 2007 by Ace
