Interesting find ID anyone?

I noticed these the other day and have seen them once before. Thought i would take a pic and see if anyone else has seen them kicking round..

They also had a pretty nasty smell going on too. found them in mulch in a garden.

Not sure what it is but Ive seen them before in SEQLD/NNSW, very beautiful purple color, they stink pretty badly when they start to decompose, like strong ammonia from memory.

it was in pretty rich soil with wood chips as mulch well shaded also

If it helps at all, that mushroom seems to be a common sight down here in Southern Tasmania

gerbils on the money, probably what used to be called R. mariae, now R. clelandii, lenkunya etc..

i think the russulas are all mycorrhizal on eucys
