What do yo uthink this lophophora is?

Recommended Posts

Here are some photos of my fairly newly acquired peyote's. they have grown a LOT since i had them. who said 30 degree direct sun wasn't good for them?

So what is your call? williamsii of difussa? rids say difussa flower says williamsii. but williamsii can have messed up ribs and diffusa can have pink flowers. so what makes one think its one or the other?

in order of date.

the pair when they first started flowering.

In all her glory. this one was self pollinated to see if they will be fertile.

the smaller one however sprung out 2 flowers.

the bigger one got jealous and decided to make it a competition. here is flower #2. See where that areole is with the dieing flower? that was just barely visible when i bought it about a month ago, all the others inside of that one are new growth since.

More photos to follow as they grow/flower/fruit or pup (i hope....).

they are both in 4" pots and seem to be about 3" wide...i have not measured them for some dumb reason. grafted on hylocereus.

i think so as well, but i have gotten 2 pm's saying that it is diffusa, because diffusa can have pink flowers. the variation mentioned was l. diffusa v. kohreshii. you don't think so?

i am really very curious as to why EXACTLY people are going one way or the other, because flower colour just doesn't seem to be accurate...according to sites saying that both can be pink... the only thing that seems fairly certain is williamsii cant be white, so if they were white i guess tehy would be diffusa, but they can also be pink...so???

Cacti flowers tend to very variable, the fact that they have NO pups whatsoever and considering the size [without pupping] I would say definately Lophophora williamsii

Diffuse: Widely or loosely scattered or spreading.

Spreading: Having a horizontally branching habit.

L. diffusa is diffuse in it's growing pattern and will pup very readily from a small size

I'm sticking with Lophophora williamsii the ribs are far too pronounced for me to think it was any other species

Incedentally, what species did you purchase them as?
