Thanks tonic.. Great description on nutrients.

From northern NSW up i Have found that you dont need to take your cacti indoors or in a greenhouse. Try not to expose them to too much water in the winter months as they either split or form rot. I manage to leave them outdoors but under cover. They do not mind the temps we get here (as much as 0 or -5 ish) as long as you do not over water them. Good luck but dont worry there is still a bit of summer left.

I have lived in lots of cold places and it does not worry trichs at all, I think rot is more of a problem in humid areas when wet, ie summer in tropical areas, rather than cold in winter, as long as drainage is good.

Mine have all experienced -14 C without batting an eyelid in a shaded position TBM included, lophs stay inside.

Alrighty then.

Got every piece but one for the construction of the greenhouse.

I'm after 4 of these.

PVC Cross 25mm.

I'v searched high and low for these but no one seems to sell them anymore.

If anyone has any knocking around the place and can spare a few it would be most appreciated.

Or if anyone has seen them somewhere i have yet to look, Please please let me know.

Cheers big ears.

JD

I don't have any PVC crosses but just thought I'd share this.

They have some nice greenhouses.

http://www.gardenexpress.com.au/

Just click "Garden Care" on the left side of the screen and an bunch of options

load up including the one for their greenhouses.

Cheers buddy but they're a bit out of my price range.

This is the progress so far.

Thanks to twenny47 for the design.

Its so beautifully simple.

I didn't imagine cross pieces to be so hard to find though.

Those 3-tier plastic hothouses that Garden Express is selling for $45.00 - I got one identical at Bunnings for $23.95.

BTW does anyone know if you have to bring Hoodias indoors during Melbourne's winter?

I scored one of these from the reject shop today for $18.00 that's right, 18 bucks!!!!! Was stoked as my four tier had a major blowout in the top, the only thing I don't like about these is the plastic seems to deteriorate over a period of a few years, hence the blowout, apart from that a great cheap alternative.

When I was in there they had about 15 to 20 in stock, they had them advertised as $25, but I noticed that there was a well hidden sign that said $18. So I talked to one of the clerks and got the good price. PM me if you would like to know from which reject shop I got it at.

Sorry - we got a bit sidetracked there JD. I don't have any pipe fittings like that but I know I seen em somewhere.

Try these links - dunno if the'll be any good for cross pieces but worth a look maybe.

also i guess u already tried good ol unethical Bunnings? Their gardening irrigation pipe department maybe?

So no one knows where to get the cross pieces eh?

I think what he's trying to say is that when they are used for their intended purpose, plumbing, the ladies toiletries may have got stuck at the X piece and blocked the pipe, thereby forcing them to recalled from sale. :)

Bit far fetched. They wouldn't with draw and not replace with an improved design.

[edit: beat me to it :)]

That may be so, but is it really necessary to discuss women's sanitary items in an ethnobotanical forum?

Just get 2 'T' pieces for each 4-way you need and glue them 10 mm part from the centre at 180' to each other.

Offset the spine beams left and right as you move to the next bay

I would do this but, its not really a spine anymore this way is it.

Plus i'd have to buy glue and other bits'n'bobs for the job.

Not to worry.

I've got a few scouts on the case since some of you people have been far less than useless..

Talking about tampons and the like.

shroomytoonos, i'm looking in your direction.
