I think it's good if a song has more than one meaning. Maybe that kind of song can reach far more people. - Syd Barrett

How I wish, how I wish you were here...come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr and shine!

RIP Syd.

Apparantly he died a few days ago and the media were only informed today. I wonder if his family waited until after the funeral to inform them, in an effort to avoid uninvited mourners. I think that would have been the way Syd would have wanted it.

yeah he died on the 7th of July of complications from type 2 diabetes.

And of the memories:

'Did I wink? Winking of this. I am yum yummy and doe, yummy yam yoom yom.

Hold you tight, Your so close yes you are, please hold on to the steal rails.

Colonel with gloves stroffs leeches. He isnt love on sunday's mail

All the fives crocks Henrietta - she's a mean go getter got to write her a letter...'

And another classic:

"Im screaming - i met you this way - your nice to me like ice

In the clock they sent through a washing machine, come around make it soon so alone...'

Much as it was Arnold Layne, Bike, and See Emily Play that got me interested in Syd Barrett [edit: oh, and apples and oranges], I think the two albums that you quoted contained his most honest and interesting published works. The Madcap laughs being my favourite of the two. Love you is, in my opinion, pure brilliance...Love you Syd :(
