Hi All, I have a friend who is excitied about his young yopo seedling and posted a vid of it closing leaves rapidly in response to his misting spray... I told him this means it must be actually Mimosa pudica, as that is the only species I know that does that. All (most?) mimosa, acacia, desmanthus etc... close at night, but I was fairly certain that only PUDICA will rapidly fold it's leaves in response to touch. He reckons that the seed was legit, supplied by "Herbs of the Gods" in Amsterdam, and has googled and compared the seed of each. I never saw his seed so I don't know. It's a very young seedling, so looks like any of 400 similar species right now.. I've grown m. pudica many times, and other acacias, but never yopo. Wiki's "Rapid Plant Movement" page lists M. pudica, but not A. peregrina as able to fold rapidly... Can someone confirm yopo does or doesn't rapidly fold it's leaves in response to touch?

Ladies and gents, Thought Id try to pay back some of the generosity shown to me by the site. I ve got 5 packs of 10 A. Peregrina seeds to giveaway for the first 5 posts after 10pm tomorrow, (Aus eastern daylight savings). I know a few people have been burned by cebil seeds marked as yopo, and I cant guarantee these aren t either. Pm me for info if you re interested about where they came from. I ve had them about 4 months and wont be able to give germination the attention it deserves. Be nice to eventually find out if they are peregrina. If you re keen, come back tomorrow night!

Hello I just joined the forum, ive been lurking here for some time. This seems to be a lovely community I grow some spirit plants myself (Caapi, Psychotria, Brugsmansia, Iboga), although none of them are very old except the Brugsmansias. I want to add Anadenanthera to that list but am not very confident with my growing skills as of yet. I have ordered a number of seeds and was wondering if anyone with experience growing this species has any advice for me. Thanks in advance

EDIT: WILL ALSO TAKE SOME KHAT SEED AS A POSSIBLE TRADE...must be fresh or fridge stored. So, I have 6 seedlings for Trade or Sale...I would prefer trade. But, you're going to have to woo me... I have a pretty expansive collection these days...thx to my wifes patience & some very generous SABers. I'm on the lookout for Amazon species preferably, but may be tempted by the right cactus . Top of the list : Diplopterys cabrerana (goes without saying) Alicia macrodisca Virola sp. Cactus & of course anything that may be on the "Deadly Awesome" list, that I may not know about yet. Now, keep in mind this plant does not like the cold .. The plant in photo #1 is the tallest at 40cm (that's mine)...but the average height is 20-25cm. These are a very delicate looking plant & unless you're North of the border, I would really want to "Express Post" this one...please keep this in mind when offering trades. Olá! I was talking to an old friend who's a freelance shaman of sorts in Brazil, the topic of Yopo and Cebil came up, to which he said both are inferior compared to this other plant he called Paricá, which after a long search we tracked down to the species Acacia polyphylla. He claims the snuff made from the seeds is far more potent than Yopo, as well as being much more like Ayahuasca, and is also less toxic / cleaner feeling, without any nausea. I trust his claims, his life is shamanism, he works closely with different tribes and has ready access to all these plants; scattered around his hut he has whole sacks -tens of kg's each- of these different snuff seeds, as well as all sorts of other crazy jungle products which he consumes like a true fiend. Apparently Monjoleiro is a very common plant around the area where he spends most of his time, and according to online sources it has a very wide distribution and is also used in forestry, meaning it should hopefully be a more sustainable alternative to Yopo given it works as well as he claims.
