growing on old VS new coco coir

Hey all, My block of coco coir has been sitting out the front of my house for sometime (months), still dry. Is pasteurisation going to cut it or are contaminants going to run wild and should I just buy another block. Has anyone had success with an older block of coir or is it important that it's clean. Cheers all!

    Coordinated flushes

Hey all! Through all my fungal projects i have never noticed "flushes". Growth seems to be uncoordinated - if i were to harvest as soon as the mature fruit was ready i would be harvesting some under developed fruit with them. I was hoping someone could tell me what conditions should be met to coordinate flushes. Thanks again guys!
  4. Please dislike this on YouTube dear friends. Note the cops info, the narrative's tone, and whatsherface's comments and questions. Fucking disgraceful: This cop is out there policing someone's private property... of pine forests. I wish cops would come at my beck and call to patrol my property for intruders. Especially dangerous foragers of NON TOXIC mushrooms. This piece does nothing to reduce harm whatsoever, and serves to highlight the fucking ridiculous nature of our drug laws and how they play out in real terms in a cop's day to day duties. Saved some lives that day, not to mention solved some violent crimes too. I think they admit that this sort of policing takes them away from their core duties... Hazardous effects on the body - cops words. This man is not a scientist, nor is he morally superior to anyone else. I appreciate he has seen someone fucked up on mushrooms; not that pretty, particularly if they have no idea what they are doing (because of chronic lack of information) and if they are mentally ill, but shut the fuck up. You do not know what you are talking about. Do law enforcement, and leave the botanical science and research to those whose job it is to do so. I couldn't care less if you would prefer to go to DVs instead of picking someone up to look after them while they are tripping balls. Get a different job bruz. And ABC.. fark mate. Just don't. Gets my heart racing too much.

I ordered a spore print from Canada, but my wife accidentally threw out my spore syringe. Does anyone in Australia have some cubensis spores or something similar for microscopy purposes? I don't want to wait over a month again for spores from overseas.

  14. Today I found the hugest and most gorgeous bracket of Laetiporus portentosus ( White punk ) on a dead log that a recent flood had tossed halfway up a tree before the waters receded The bracket weighs about 5kg and seems completely untouched by bugs. It also smells divine Not a lot in the way of records re edibility, except mentioning Tasmanian Aborigines maybe used to eat it as an emergency food. A few sites say Laetiporus genus is edible... that seems to be a broad brush Close relative of Chicken of the Woods. Anyone know if there are any toxic lookalikes I need to be wary of?

    prints for microscopy

hello all I am relatively new to this forum, well the posting side anyways, I'm a very interested in mycology and am wanting to know if anyone has any prints laying around they could spare? I am currently looking at each strain of psilocybe cubensis spore prints to see what the differences are if there is any, I currently have Brazilian cubensis, Tasmanian cubensis, a random print I got from finding some cubs in my local town, and Ecuadorean cubensis, I'm looking to get a good collection together so I can look at these under I microscope and take note on all the differences and research each a bit, when I'm done with these prints I will be giving them away to someone else looking to do the same thing, so if anyone have some spare prints they could give me it would be greatly appreciated, thanks
  18. Hi all just wondering if anyone has experience with substrates other than woodchips/cardboard/hessian or sawdust when working with wood loving species. In particular I'm wondering if coir will work? If no one knows I'll get to work on it and see if it's viable. If someone has already tried or has experience with other substrates let me know! Thanks!

    Plastic-eating fungi found in Amazon!!

I was wondering if anyone had heard much on this.... I heard about it earlier this year and kind of put it on the shelf to research when I had time to do so... Have just done a quick Google search and there seems to be plenty of stories on it so time to get reading... Try Googling "fungus that eats polyurethane" I'd be interested to see what some of the more informed members of the Corroboree have to say on the topic. Peace and enjoy!
  21. heard about this guy a few years ago, and then came across this interview by Rak Razaam. I am fascinated with his ability to convey the reality of entity encounters in mushroom space. The concept of malevolent entities seeking the energy of unprepared explorers who have bitten off more than they could chew, so to speak, brings back some intense memories. And whats the deal with the preying mantis? They seem to be such a common theme into reports to the other side, and dreams. This talk has motivated me to further explore the art of 'self defence', both physical and mental. Are the entities that inhabit these spaces dead souls? Future souls? Another aspect of living creatures? What is their relationship to this organic matrix? Is their some sort of spirit world / organic world symbiosis going on? Or is it more a parasitic relationship? Any thoughts? Edit: And did anyone see him talk at EGA? What was his talk about?
