  1. Hey guys, Does any have or know where to get any seeds or cuttings of Synaptolepis Kirkii (Uvuma-omhlope)? I have looked everywhere and can only locate the roots and the powder. For those who haven't heard of it its a shrub with porcelain white roots. Kirkiis are traditionally used by the Zulu and Xhosa to induce spiritual visions, trances and dreams. The root contain a neurotropic called kirkinine.

    Synaptolepis kirkii

Anyone tried this? I'm looking to import some. Initial reports look very promising, sort of Galblimima-like.

    Synaptolepis Kirkii seeds or cuttings

We've been talking about it for over 10 years http://www.shaman-australis.com/forum/index.php?/search/&q=Synaptolepis &sortby=relevancy (Noob Lesson 1: Use The Search Engine (UTSE) - repeated failure to do so can lead to cries of UTFSE) I've wanted seeds for a while, but have never seen them advertised anywhere. Haven't asked around for a few years though, so who knows. If you find any, please PM me. Also: Welcome to the forums!
  4. Hmmm...interesting. I'd never even heard of Synaptolepis kirkii before now. Do you know if it even propagates by seed usually? I can't see seeds available anywhere online, couple places seem to sell powdered root though. While I'm at it I'm also looking into a coupe of other oneirogens if anybody has any experiences to share - I'm growing white sapote, which I think PH said is one, and thinking of Entada rheedii (sorry if I spelled that incorrectly, cbf checking).
  5. Have Synaptolepis kirkii seeds ever turned up in the community? I've never seen anyone trading them.

    Synaptolepis kirkii

Bump^^^ I tried about a quarter teaspoon of synaptolepis last night. It produced some intensly vivid dreams of a sexual nature, in fact they were mulltiple I took the herb in capsule with my usuall bedtime routine of calea, mansoa, and melatonin. during the day ive been using yohimbe so this may account for the nature of the dreams. Im still burping up a pepper flavor on account of the kirkii and my asthma is playing up a little accompanied with a tickle in my throat so it may be wise to start off with a smaller dose, other daphnanes are known irritants.

    Silene capensis

yes,it appears your correct.......there is a report on erowid of insufflating a small amt. seems like a little bit of gas from smoking too! this quote from the first thread may be interesting for my rls,it was less troublesome lastnight...... 'And it may be something else, i havent had a long perview of this plant, but it seems to positively affect my lower leg neuropathy- It has largely receded since using silene.' from the second link........ Dream inducing herbs (oneirogenic) : Impendulo - Rubia petiolaris Isidala - Dianthus crenatus A cold water root infusion is used by diviners to ensure visions and sharpen their divining faculties. Also of interest is the fact that this plant is in the same family as the Silene that is an oneirogenic (dream-inducing) plant. Lesoko - Alepidea amatymbica Maranga - Albizia adianthifolia The Chwabo tribe know it as `maranga'. They use the roots to induce dreams and to enhance memory. The bark is also snuffed. Ubhubhubhu - Helinus integrifolius Diviners use saponin rich species like Helinus integrifolius in an ubulawu mix which enables them to interpret dreams clearly. (Saponins are a highly bioactive group of molecules.) It is prepared by stirring with cold water until a froth appears. Umagupu - Maesa lanceolata The tree yields 3% embelin. A host defence stimulant, dioxybenzoquinone, has been isolated (Kubo et al. 1983, 1987). Maesaanin, isolated from fruit, has antifungal activity against Candida utilis (Yano et al. 1989). Uqume - Hippobromus pauciflorus Uvuma-omhlope - Synaptolepis kirkii The tuberous root is cut into chunks. These chunks are remarkably pure white in colour (`omhlope’ = white), and easy to identify. They have brown fibres embedded in them, and appear like pieces of plaster of Paris. Uvuma-omhlope is used to produce clear vision when entering into a trance. Root infusions are also used in rituals and assist diviners to `see’ in a metaphysical sense. An unusual diterpenoid ester known as Synaptolepis factor K, has been reported from a Synaptolepis species (see Zayed 1977). For sources see the sources forum another good link........ http://www.thebotanicalsource.com/id186.htm http://www.thebotanicalsource.com/id233.htm t s t .

    to see bees herbally

if found the following article a while ago on the net. it refers to nexus or, as shulgin once put it "the beautiful", 2 - cb, but in herbal form another source quotes the following herbs for this medicine: Mixture of plants - Maesa lanceolata, Hippobromus paucifloris, Helinus sp., Secamone sp., Bulbine latifolia, Synaptolepis kirkii i wonder if these plants could be obtained for the sole reason of preserving them from extinction here goes part of the text: "One of the most interesting developments on the local scene in regard to Nexus is that this compound is the active ingredient of a medicine called Ubulawu Nomathotholo (a Xhosa phrase which roughly translates as `Medicine of the Singing Ancestors'). Up until recently, Ubulawu Nomathotholo was available at various African herbal shops where it was sold as an aid in traditional healing. According to the written information inside the pack: `Ubulawu Nomathotholo opens the mind to messages, visions and dreams from the Ancestral spirits. This makes it an excellent medicine for use by African traditional healers during intlombe, xhentsa, vumisa, divining, healing and thwasa treatment.' Ubulawu Nomathotholo is marketed by a Lesotho-based company called Inkwazi, but according to a spokesman for the company, Mr Solomon Daba, because of the banning in South Africa of their medicine's active ingredient, it is no longer being sold in the Republic. `This is a great pity,' said Mr Daba. `The problem that many sangomas in South Africa are faced with is that because they live in the townships, far away from the countryside, they are unable to get hold of many of the plants and herbs used in divining, initiation ceremonies and healing. Ubulawu Nomathotholo is a very safe and effective alternative to some of the traditional plant drugs that affect the mind, but which many sangomas in the cities now find impossible to get hold of." i m curious if there is any validity in this story, since i also heard other plants beeing involved with the bees, hopefully there is someone out there who knows more about these south african herbs
