  1. Even though I've been arround for quite a while, I'm a fairly new member. My contribution is scarce, I'm not an expert and, as most of my questions are not unique, I easily find answers with a little research. I've had a a few trades now, all very happy but one. I think this community is great with dedicated, knowlegeable, helpful and friendly people. Regarding trade and exchange matters, trustworthiness, honesty and reasonability are essential factors and as dishonest activities are highly detrimental, I think they should be exposed. As a side note, I made all efforts to sort out the trade with the seller and I've asked advice to the moderators before coming here and talk about the situation. The member in question is Teotzlcoatl. Has anyone ever had any sucessfull purchase/ trades with Her/ (Him?) Has anyone experienced something similar to my situation? Was the deal made within or outside US? I've sent her $125 for a couple of plants and seeds to Europe/ Portugal which I never received and there were over 60 emails and PMs since May to see the matter resolved, without success. In the past I have received hundreds of plants from all over the world through mail, some were required cerificates by customs and some even requested (by me) to be sent back to the sender due to custom's expensive fees. Never had problems with SAB and even had the ocasional dead plant replaced. I have allways received my plants and all the problematic matters were dealt and resolved nicely by the sellers and I can vouch highly for people like KadaKuda and Shamanic plants for example. Well, having said that, I must say I've never had to deal with someone so shady, elusive and rude... She's literally lying and telling me to fuck off. Seeing how much effort she's putting in "financing her ethnobotanical expedition" and advertising her business/ selling list, I wander how she's never been told off for what I now consider to be theft. I wont be able to layout our entire correspondence for it is ridiculously long (thats how patient I am)... here is a sample of the timeline and some facts: April 08 - PM first contact April 13 - No more answers within the forum (only via email) Jun 12 - Deal closed (took 2 months to get a quote and set up the deal) Jun 13 - Money sent " Money sent. Let me know when you send the package so I can envisage its arrival and be there when the postman rings. Best regards, Quetzalt " Jun13 - Answer " Alrightly, ill let you know!" Jul 1 - I enquire about the money arrival... Answer "your the one in Portugal right? or what is your address? let me check..." ...I resend address... she says it will be sent next monday... Jul 20 - " Hi, Haven't received any news yet... It's been quite a long time now. Can you let me know when you send the package. Thanks. Regards, Quetzalt" Answer " I sent it about a week ago..." Jul 24 -" well i got your package back "RETURN TO SENDER" it says.... it seems live plants are not allowed into Peru, however the seeds are...." ... (What's going on *** Peru? ***) ... Jul 24 - " Not possible. From over 30 orders from all over the world, I only had problems with 3 packages. 1. Had returned to sender because address was wrong 2. got stuck in customs because they happen to check and found live plants. They then sent me a letter asking for a CITES certificate, which I got and I then received the plants no problem (some had not survived). 3. same as 2 (even though "I" asked for the package to be returned). So, the worst that can happen to mail orders in portugal is for customs to hold it and request me a certificate (Salvia is not even scheduled here....) Please show me a picture to read what they wrote on the package. It seems to me that your postal services didn't let it leave the country... " Jul 26 - " Customs says - no live plants to Portugal" Jul 28 - " see pic in attachment " (even after multiple requests I never got this attachement) Jul 29 - " damn you didn't get it??? hang on" (Here of course I get it, I'll hang on for ever...) Jul 31- " ill figure out a way to get the plants to you somehow" Jul 31 -"Yeah I'll try it again next Monday." Jul 31 -"Please confirm my address ... send it on monday the 8th of August. Ps: you never sent the attachement with the photo. Thanks, Quetzalt) Jul 31 - " monday the 8th? ill send u the address when i get to the office." Aug 4 - " Please confirm my address before sending the plants and seeds.Thanks. ps: send me the attachement you never sent..." Aug 4 - " oh you never got the pic? ok . you want me to ship aug. 8th right?" Aug 5 - " Yes, thats right." At this point I had enough so at the end of the day... Aug 5 - " Come on, why do you just repeat what I say? Are you serious or just taking the piss? I've sent you the money.... I never had to write so many emails to get some feedback from someone... just get the thing done. Come on, more than 30 emails. Just send me my money back. I've had enough, if you don't close this on the right note, I'm seriously going to talk about what you're really about on the forums. Quetzalt" Aug 5 - " is this a threat? how about i tell you to fuck off? don't talk to me like that, ive done nothing but try to help you. your the one trying to get a plant shipped to your that your country restricts. everyone hates me on the forums anyway, ive received multiple death threats, go the fuck ahead." Aug 6 -" if you want me to ship your plants Aug. 8th than why are you giving me shit? ... Aug 6 - " ok well this time I'm going to tell the people at the post office exactly what it is and to ship the damn thing to you and not back to me cause Salvia is legal where I live too! So I don't understand what the post office's problem was before." (At this time I was already speaking with the moderators... and I get a PM) Aug 7 - " hey man sup, torsten said I should talk to you? He said your mad at me or something? What's up? Do I owe you a plant or something? (no reply from me between these 2 PMs, obviously she knows who I am) Aug 8 - " Torsten said you told him I stole $150 dollars from you? I thought said to ship on monday the 8th?! Man what is your deal?" Aug 9 - After a long reply of mine she says " i assure you ill get you plants or your money back, don't worry" Aug 13 - "been really busy, will ship your package very soon!" (From here onwards, no more replies from her... so I switched to email) Sept 12 - "Can you please let me know when can I expect the plants and seeds to be sent?" Sept 12 - " you haven't gotten your plants? whats your address please?" Sept 12- I resend the address to which the answer is" they should have been there a long time ago." ... (I haven't heard from her since...) I would assume that someone with posts, sites and forums all over the internet would be genuine... Of course I might be wrong, this situation might be unique and Circumstantial and I'd like to hear other pleople's reports and experiences with this member. For me the feeling has been horrible for the whole process was always on the verge of uncertainty, never knowing for sure her real intentions and what to expect... Having to start almost all conversations. Almost as if I needed to beg to get some attention / to know what's the situation. As if she was doing me a favor... All is easy when all the cards are there, once the money is on the other side... Still I hope this member proves me wrong (I mean, the ideia I have from her now), but its a shame I had to loose my time this way... Sorry about the extention of this post but its the only way I found to give a clear picture and avoid unecessary future debate/ clarification about the events. From what I gather others here have gone through the same experience. So, in case I'm wrong, I feel inclined to quote someone who was feeling the same way but had it ending in good terms. "Please don't feel offended, I really didn't want to do this, but you do have allot of my money. I hope we can work this out like brothers, I don't want there to be anything bad between us. " Thanks.
  2. Some of us here have been generously gifted A.Phleb seeds. This thread is a grow log for those who'd like to share their experiments, methods, doubts and questions about germinating and growing these little black diamonds. There's already quite a bit of info in the forum about previous successful and not so successful attempts, I for a start have found these threads quite helpful (many thanks to the authors ): The Phleb Thread Raising A.Phlebophylla Acacia Phlebophylla reasearch (Out of my league but with some good bits and pieces) ______________________________ I'd like to give a shot in the dark... Phleb loves granite... It is known that granite has variable "low" amounts of Radon emission. Could this be an influencing factor? I don't know anything about plant-mineral interaction, it's just a question that poped in my mind... ______________________________ I'm lucky to live in a zone 9 granite region, not far from some wild areas which are strickingly similar if not the same as Phleb's native habitat. All my walls are made of granite cold in winter and hot in summer. Supposing things go well, I'll be using boilled water for the seedling stage and rain water after transplant. My raising mix will be sterilised 2 parts crushed granite with 1 part multipurpose gardening soil + a little humus. (Please let me know if sterilizing makes any difference) I couldn't properly figure out what works best but that's what I intend to do: 1st lot. 1. Pour near boilling water over seeds and soak for 12 hours. 2. Plant the seeds in raising mix in a shade area (maybe green house?). 2nd Lot. 1. Nick seeds with a sterilized clipper. 2. Soak seeds in sterile water for 12 hours 3. Plant the seeds in raising mix in a shade area (maybe green house?). I will also place a couple of seeds from both methods on moisted cotton pads in a sealed plastic bag and plant in raising mix after germination. I'll remove the seed coat If I notice difficulty in germination or just do it a couple of weeks later to ease germination. Last but not least I'll cross my fingers and twist my mind in patience for the next coming years And thanks for any tip or suggestion from the experieced companions of this plant.

    Duboisia hopwoodii

Hi there, after just seeing Poisonshroom's Amazing Grow Log (can't beleive I missed it), I thought I would share my progress with Ferret's S. Hopwoodii seeds. Well, nothing like poisonshroom's but anyhow: I started in March with about only 8 seed (a couple got crush in the mail). 2000ppm GA (didn't dissolve properly though) 24hr can't remember where, but I read somewhere they like sand and grow deep roots, it seemed like that from the photos I saw of their habitat. So, I planted them 5mm in 15cm sand gradually mixed with regular soil (sand on top and soil at the bottom, all previously sterilised in the microwave and put in half 5Lt wather bottle with a plastic bag on top). I thought I had messed up the whole process, The GA was strange, watering the sand feeled strange... But I just leaved it in the green house under fluorescent lights. In may, I was happy, I noticed that one had poped up and the seed coat had fallen... but the whole thing was too humid and when I came back from a 3 days trip it had dyied , I wanted to blame my wife Well, I didn't loose hope so, I left it almost unatended and at the begining of october I had another one pop. I've been carefull not to water it too much, but the growing process is very slow (Is it due to the Fluo lights?). Last week I was happy to see that another one woke up... So I can't complain with almost 50% germination. We'll see if they make it through... That'it for now, any help/ sugestion will be appreciated.

    First steps into A. Phlebophylla

Hey thanks a lot. Looks like simple is the way. After my faillures and research I realized that in nature most seeds must remain exposed/ stuck within rock cracks and receiving water/ humidity from clean streams and night/ day diferencial temps. I hope I'll have the chance to have another go at these beauties someday Best of luck for the growing process.

Well good luck, GA-3 seems to do the job nicely. Yes the roots are intact, so I'll cross fingers...

Hi, My Pituri was doing fine until a couple of days ago when my dog cut it in half I'm left with a leafless 15 cm bit in the vase and a 20 cm tip with some leaves (I'v removed the bottom ones), which I've put in a glass of water (check pic). Can I do anything to help it's survival or is it condemned? Can I expect the tip to root in the water (would rooting hormone help?) ? Thanks for the help.

    Trade/ purchase gone wrong?

Hi It's been a year since the begin of the events in this thread and to my surprise there's been a follow up I ought to divulge. Well guess what, last month out the blue, I received a package with the forgotten items. Better late than never? So, in the end Teo redeemed himself... I will now contact Zelly to return his due. Any follow up, I leave in the hands of the administrators. Regards

    Invasive acacias

Acacias here in the south of Europe are considered higly invasive species and there are some environmental efforts to remove them. I've seen specially 3 species arround - Melanoxylum, Dealbata and Longifolia. I have no experience with acacias but I've been very curious as to whether there is any ritualistic utility to these species? Do most acacias manifest similar reproductive patterns and have this invasive potentiallity? On various ocasions I almost acquired Acuminata, Confusa or Obtusifolia but have given up due to afterthoughts cocerning invasive issues...
  9. Hi, I've got a small Iboga plant (from SAB maybe 3 month ago). Well it seems to be growing but for each pair of leaves it looses another... is that normal? The lower pair gets progressively to a lighter green yellow and falls. At the beginning I thought - nutrient deficiency- and after fertilizing it it took somehow a darker green tone but the lower leaves keep getting weak and falling. I've got it in a humidity tent and the temps are arround 25-30ºc. The Yohimbe and V.Africana are in the same tent/conditions and are doing fine (the Yohimbe maybe getting too many leaves/nodes close to one another). Anyone can comment on Iboga growth peed/ progression in normal conditions? Thanks,

    Iboga plant growing process question

Wow 2 years old Nice one... I was afraid of winter so I brought it in a heated and humidified greenhouse until today and it grew 1 foot (doubled its size...). Looking very happy and branching out. I hope next year I get some flowers and fruits too The vocanga/ shippibo and Colubrina liked the same conditions very much but the Yohimbe died early, maybe too much water or too much cold or both... I lack the courage to get them to the ground though... Kada, maybe you could just get it a nice transparent roof. It likes humidity a lot, I don't know about excessive water...

    First steps into A. Phlebophylla

Well, end of the line for me... I only had 2 germinations from coco pellets, one died trying to surface and the other trying to shed the seed coat. I had removed the seed coat from another 2 without success. The remaining ones litterally disapeared/ rotted... I dugged but couldn´t find anything. I probably had too much humidity during the whole process. If I'm lucky enough to have another go at them some day, I'll defenetly go for the remove seed coat option. Does any one know if sand would be better then vermiculite? (I'm asking because vermiculite seems good for air circulation...)

How nice of you I don't know if I still count but as an artist I have to contribute with "Jame Lee Byars", he was a touch more than a comet in the artworld. Even more profound than Walter De Maria The Rose Table Of Perfect Is Is The Human Figure The Death of James Lee Byars Is

Sorry, can't help you with seeds but I'm sure someone will be able to. My plant is doing great, I'll update a pic when I have the time.
  14. Yes this thread is sad, and that is why people feel inclined to give their 2 sents. I don't agree with you C_T. In this case the privilege is being able to use this platform to "offer" and make some profit. Even if it only costed 80$, answering a question seems only natural. I mean, I see people in this forum "offering" stuff and providing more info than the present case. If this specien doesn't deserve a page bio, then it might not be worth the price. If it deserves one, then it should be provided to the buyer or potential one indeed. If there's no info, then I don't see why all the fuss, there's no info. It's a matter of genuine interest and good faith, no need for negative reactions.

    First steps into A. Phlebophylla

For me, nothing yet 3 weeks after treatment ... I might take a few coats out to see if it helps. For comparison sake, I planted 6 seeds of A. Maidinii at the same time and 3 germinated promptly.

    Intergeneric Breeding with Electricity

Wow a lot to go on in there.... I had read an article from a japanese researcher who found electromagnetic comunication between trees... Now this opens for a lot of "freak" experiences. Zelly, have you done some experiments with multiple wave oscillators? Care to share your experiences? That reminds me the Lovecraftian movie "from beyond" (a wave oscillator to stimulate the pineal gland) On a more realistic note and on a planetary scale, there's that "Evil" Tesla related "experiments" they are doing in Alaska called HAARP (check youtube). Another obscure author but well worth checking is Viktor Scauberger. His works touches on nature, thecnology, water and healing.

  20. Well, that would be great I'll wait and see, amazing how some thing look like dead but aren't... If that's the case, do I need to keep watering it?
  21. Well, I have one which is just dying on me... I don't know if it's the cold but it was beautifull just a month ago and it's been drying up , I believe it's almost gone. Any tips would be nice... Unfortunately, not enough leaf material was produced. I've never heard of Mullein before...

    Acacia seed giveaway

Hey PD. could you describe the soil that supports and feeds the Phleb you're gathering your seeds from? Sorry, stupid me. Only one place you could be gathering from - likes Alpine granite slopes with inhert soil between the cracks...

    Acacia seed giveaway

Hey, hey, I had them waiting for me when I got home today Beautifull and shinny little things... Nice one PD. A "veritable tour de force" Your ideia is great and definitely works, but it's based on trust. Basically, no one in the chain may fuck up. You could maybe do 5 lists of 20, or 1 list of 20 to start and see how it goes Later on when I'm back, I'll start The Phleb thread then.

    Wanted viable A. Peregrina seeds

Well from what I gather and was told, there are no viable A. Peregrina seeds around. And I thought it would be much easier to find compared lets say to viable Virola or T. Cacao seeds for example...
