Hey Libertycaps - I have a cutting growing that I acquired years back labeled LC002. Or just LC02. Can you provide any info on the parentage? -

These guys are trying to create a cactus preserve in some of the best remaining organ pipe cactus stands in Mexico. Check them out. Cool photos on their website. http://www.gofundme.com/AWABAT

Wax is/was commonly used in grafting fruit trees. I think it has fallen out of fashion to some degree.

I don't know why it's sideways. But yeah - its a Myrtillocactus. Unless the occasional aeriole pops up I don't know how it's propogated. I aquired it on the big auction site from A guy that specializes in Monstrose and crested clones. The other photo is a "mini" crest of the same species. One of at least 3 distinct crested clones. The last photo is a "pepperoni plant" - T. santiaguensis monstrose.

There is a monstrose cut on eBay (US) at the moment. Been there for a few months actually. He is asking 100 bucks........

The bacillus mentioned above, commercially available as a product called Gnatrol, used in conjunction with sticky traps solved my problem

The obvious answer is well draining soil/situation. Dig out a large pit and fill with a well draining mix.

I disagree about spinarion not being very affected by envirnoment. I live at a northern lettitude and grow in partial shade. Most plants that I aquire from further south (California or Arizona) grow with shorter spines in my environment - often dramatically.
