EDIT just as an example, I had to paste the url of this thread into my browser and hit return, still new msg didn't show, so I pasted again, and finally it showed. because this site uses frames you can't just hit reload, you must reload the url for the thread you're participating in. example this thread is http://www.shaman-australis.com/ubb/Forum2...TML/000604.html [This message has been edited by blog (edited 03 November 2002).]

    not working

If you're using Optus cable or maybe just Optus period, they use some half arsed transparent proxy which only half works. The proxy doens't update itself when it should, so when you post your message, when you return to the messages you're still seeing what was in the proxy. After posting I normally close the browser, then come back, and hit reload a number of times. If you aren't with Optus maybe there really is something wrong.

    spore viability

I've got various spore prints from 2 - 3 years ago. They've been sitting in envelopes on a book case, no special storeage conditions. Can someone give me an idea as to weather they'd likely be dead or alive? EDIT Oh yeah, and a 2nd question while i'm here, Is it mushroom season in Nth NSW / SE Qld yet? Melatonin

Here's an anti-melatonin article for you Ruby to try and cheer you up http://www.abc.net.au/science/k2/moments/gmis9809.htm You need realplayer/realone to hear Dr Karl speaking but the transcript is there anyway if you don't have it installed

    Melatonin

That is so true, 2 doctors wouldn't give me a prescription because it wasn't in the mims handbook, so they had no prescribing information. The 3rd doctor, also would not prescribe without prescribing information. However he told me to come back in a couple days, and he'd find out the information required. He did that, and wrote the prescription. But this was years ago, and these dr's hadn't even heard of melatonin. Things must surely have changed today.

    Melatonin

You should have bothered to get a script for it, scanned it, and sent the image with your order so they can print it and send with the melatonin. It is prescription, and it's likely customs will inspect it. Officially they should confiscate it, don't know if they actually do in practise, I had a prescription, so had no problems with customs. Mine germinated in February, they're still less than 10cm's tall, haha. Maybe spring will liven them up a little.

    Woodrose babies...

A Woodrose I had in the garden, in the ground lost all it's leaves about a month ago, cold nights combined with cold winds did the trick I think. Anyway I just checked it, no active buds, but all areas of the vine are still green and sappy. Was wondering if anyone thinks it's still alive, and if so, should I cut the stem a couple of feet from the ground, to give it more strengh in recovering or just leave it as it is. It's on a fence, Covers maybe 5 square metres.

    Importing DXM powder?

It has a S4 schedule. You can't import it without a prescription, but you can't get a prescription. Customs will confiscate it if it's detected, and you'll get a letter in the mail. I don't think you can get fined, as it's not listed as a controlled substance with import control restrictions (other than requiring a prescription), but I don't know really, someone will know. Just as a side note, a friend imported some from South Africa, and it made it through, but.. well people win gold lotto too, so if you think luck is on your side then fine, otherwise try and cancel the order.
  14. Torsten could you tell me what the law is reguarding receiving illegal goods in the mail? A friend has on a few occasions received things in the mail, not from companies but from friends. medication that is S8. My friends (flawed???) logic was that how the hell could he know the contents untill opened, and even then how could he be expected to know what the substance is and what it's legality is. And further it could not be proven that the mail sent to him was actually intended for him, nor could it be proven that their was ever any request for the product. The mail was sent to a po box with the name "Box Holder" as the adressee. Is absolutely none of that relevent, simplly accepting a package with a restricted scheduled substance inside would be illegal, and an offence, or must the package be opened, and examined by the receipiant and if no attempt is made to return to sender then does it become an offence? And if so, what's stopping anyone from framing people by sending them illicit goodies in the mail, that would definatly be detected by sniffer dogs. Surely there must be safeguards against people being prosecuted in that circumstance and if so, surely that could be used a defence in receiving anything in the mail where there is no further evidence than the possession of the package? L-Troptophan

Yeah, I think the poor guy must have bought several bottles in the same order, when a customer had a prescription for it. And now he's stuck with them. THey were behind the counter with all the other pharacy only medication. The TGA probably don't track sales of L-tryptophan, as another chemist ages ago told me you need a prescription but hinted that he could sell it to me without one as he was no longer sure that it was prescription only. I"m sure he knew otherwise, but I guess that's his "get out of jail free" card if I was some sort of goverment inspector. [This message has been edited by blog (edited 03 August 2002).]

    L-Troptophan

I was at the chemist today, and asked the pharmacist the price of L-Tryptophan. Natures own is now $35! which is a bit exy. Interestingly he had no problems with selling it to me without a prescription. Also had 5HTP, but it's $40 for 30 75mg tablets, WHOA! the distributor must be makingg shit loads of money from that. Absinthe - My Grogshop sells them

My wormwood bush's grow out of control, and I have to cut them back and throw a huge amount away. What's the easiest way of storing the leaves, till I have a use for them? I"m guessing you can't dry the leaves, as by evaporating the water, you also evaporate the thujone. Anyone have a storage idea?

    L-Troptophan

Golden Glow must not only keep their tablets under 100mg but must also keep their recommended dosage under 100 mg. To recommend more would place the product into the un-commerical world of prescription only medication (uncomercial for a naturopathic product)So it's a bit of a catch22 for them. They know 95mg is unlikely to do much for the majority of people, and are probably depending on word of mouth, and the purchasers own research to determine the correct dosage. Australian mushroom documentary

At the moment, where I live police don't seem to care about mushroom pickers. One of the most famous mushroom fields in my area is on the main road that feeds into the largest police depot in my city, and it's about 3 minutes drive away. You get a huge amount of people walking the fields with their cotton bags heads tilted towards the ground. Police cars are constantly going past, and they also visit the Shopping Centre next to the field. You see them parking, often have a bit of a look at people in the field and walk off to do whatever they're there for. The reason they could't be bothered doing anything is probably because their is no incentive to do anything, as mushrooms currently are such a low profile drug. There is no "having to be seen to be doing their job" situation with nabbing mushroom pickers as the average Joe Blow in the street doesn't perceive mushrooms in the same light as marijuana, and still others would have no idea about hallucinogenic mushrooms. Imagine marijuana bush's popped up over night in farmers fields. The cops would have them staked out morning to night waiting for people to arrive I fear with mushroom culture becoming so mainstream, probably mainly due to the internet,it's only a matter of time before police around here do start busting people on a mass scale. But still the less attention mushrooms get in the media the better. [This message has been edited by blog (edited 25 July 2002).]

    L-Troptophan

I used it for sleep, though wasn't very helpfull for me in that area. Had a lot of vivid uncomfortable dreams, so vivid it often took me a long time after waking up to determine if they were actually dreams. Like memories and situations that your brain normally suppresses, well they're the things I kept dreaming about, suppose you might say it brought on nightmares. I wasn't depressed at the time, and didnt' notice any mood change.

I reckon you'll see big crack downs on mushroom pickers when mushrooms become a everyday drug you buy from a drug dealer. I've never heard of anyone selling mushrooms around here, though I know plenty of people that have tried them, but they either picked them, or were given them by friends, No drug money being exchanged. No one getting rich of fungus. But look at places like Nimbin where dealers do sell mushrooms on the street, the demand being higher than their supplies mostly. It's only a matter of time before police all over Australia take magic mushrooms as seriously as other drugs.

    L-Troptophan

From memory, when I got my script it was about $27.00, so you're paying $13 for 9.5grams , while $27 gets you 30grams, so it works out cheaper, but you dont' even know if the stuff is useful for your needs yet, so best starting cheap. Give a single tablet a go to start with, but at least you know 5 tablets at once should be perfectly safe as that is the Adult dose of the prescription only version.

    5meo in oz?

Without medical attention 15grams (30 panadols) would cause cirhosis of the liver for the average person, the severity including liver failure being the variable. But why would you be taking so many, if the answer is an attempt to kill yourself, then it's likely everything would be washed down with alcohol, which would obviously be even more damaging to the liver.

    L-Troptophan

Natures Own sell it also, more expensive but each tablet is 500mg's instead of 95mg. That's a pretty huge difference in dosage strengths, yet both recommend only 1 tablet a night. I"m guessing that 500mg's is the therapeutic dose, but Golden Glow want to keep their tablets unscheduled so went for 95mg. Maybe L-Tryptophan only becomes S4 at strengths of 100mg and above. http://www.bullivants.com.au/proddata/Natures_Own/Sort_by_Name_no/NO_List_ Name/no_list_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html://http://www.bullivants.com.au/prodda...t_name_303.html [This message has been edited by blog (edited 24 July 2002).]

    natural sleep aids(strong)

Yeah Restavit(Doxylamine succinate) is the best antihistamine (muscle relaxant?) I've tried for sleep. Like you a full tablet is too strong and I feel comatosed the next day till early afternoon, but 1/2 a tablet is much more tolerable. I'm used to going to bed very late, but when I take a dose at 9pm, i'll be asleep by 10pm so they certainly have the desired effect. The problem with them (for me) is a tolerance to them builds up immediately. If I were to take a tablet tonight, tomorrow night restavit wouldn't work for me. I'd say they're only good to use one night, then maybe 3 nights later. Increasing the dose didn't help me sleep either, after taking 4 tablets I hallucinated all night, and I'm unsure if I did actually sleep at all or weather I hallucinated I was sleeping. Also if you're on any medications that aren't very selective and are histamine antagonists(maybe only a problem for H2 receptor antagonists?)such as tricyclic anti-depressants, anti-psychotics and probably lots others, Restavit won't help with sleep.
