    Banisteriopsis caapi Propagation 101

the dude; just make sure theres a node present and shove it in some soil, I just use peat and keep it moist... works wonders. I've planted standing up, laying down, upside down.. doesn't really make a difference, they're pretty tough.

    Juul's Giant??

it looks heaps different in the pics than in person, it's actually quite glaucous.. and different than PC's i've grown in aus, then again climate can play a large role with these things... i'm not sure... they're beauties nonetheless.

    Acacia ID in Vietnam

yeah, probably neither concurrens nor leiocalyx if the bark was smooth... are the secondary veins anastomosing or just straight/parallel? concurrens seed pods can split and get quite twisted like that at times when they're really dry... the seed pods in your pic do look a bit wide though. have a look here, you might find it... http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/PlantNet/wattle/ident.html sometimes it's easier just to fill in the length of the phyllodes, and click through the results until you find something that resembles what you've got.

  12. Hey guys, Having a bit of trouble finding any peres over here in NZ. T'would be awesome if anyone could help us out with either of the above! I've nothing worthwhile for trade at the mo' but cash, shoot us through a PM. cheers, fyde.
  13. You've got at least 3 different spp. labeled as obtusifolia that are clearly different from one another. The "weird pods" in no. 6 are galls. http://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/PlantNet/WattleWeb/ident.php

    Wrongly identified as Jurema

When I was growing M. tenuiflora, I noticed thigmonasty /seismonasty in younger seedlings... this seemed to disappear upon maturation of the plants though. They still closed up at night, but lost sensitivity to touch... I don't know if thats normal, it was my first go at trying to grow them.

    Chemistry 101

I second that, Berkeley's Chem 1A vids are a good start.. "general organic & biological chemistry" by janice gorzynski smith is one of the better text books to work through... If you already have an idea of basic chemistry; going through and doing the 'chapter highlights' questions is great for a recap. when I did my bridging course, my uni recommended "general organic biological chemistry" by karen timberlake... But in comparison to janice gorzynski smith's textbook, it seemed to miss out on allot of small details I was grateful to have learnt in janice's book. Vids are always good, but personally I seem to retain information allot easier when working through a text book rather than watching videos etc.. at0m's link has some good videos for the basics too... I'm sure there was another thread here a while ago with some great links to some chemistry sites also.. there were a few beauts in there.

  19. stumbled across this little fella out on a walk this morning.. sorry, I didn't get a habitat shot as I didn't have my phone on me at the time, but this was found out in a wet coastal rain forrest, hiding amongst leaf litter on the east coast of the north island, new zealand.. may be a bit of wishful thinking going on here... but I thought it could posibly be a Psilocybe weraroa.. although theres a good chance its a Weraroa virescens or other kind of wearoa sp. i'm finding it difficult to find much info online about them. theres a little bit of light blue staining happening but it's not really visible in the photos.. i'm waiting on a print now, although it doesn't look like it wants to happen. spores will rub off onto the finger as a light cinnamon brown colour... I will try to find another less damaged specimen for a better ID later today or tomorrow. anyways, lettuce know what you think.

    WTB (new zealand)

hey guys, S'been a while since I've been ethno-active... finally have some spare time, so i'm back on the prowl. Looking for any kiwi members with HBWR seeds for sale/ trade. All i've got for trade at the moment are pach cuts, and either dirty sub or cube prints (microscopy purposes only)... I've also a very small amount of dirty P. weraroa spores (for microscopy purposes only)... pm for details. Otherwise I got cash. additionally; if you know of any NZ ethno suppliers that aren't ridiculously overpriced, lettuce know. also interested in loph seed/lings, M. tenuiflora seeds/ plants, clean Psilo prints of any kind, catha cuts/ seeds, and I don't know what the legality is over here (let me know); but any ephedra sp. seeds would be nice too... and well pretty much anything else interesting, I'm in desperate need to rebuild my ethno garden, it's been too long also; if anyone knows of a local (within NZ) fumaric acid supplier, I would be forever grateful! cheers, fyde. **edit: also keen on caapi cuts if available!
