    WA Gyms, tis the season

there's always that ozone spot with more than 20 just huddled together. I might've gone wandering a bit too soon, most purps i found weren't fully matured and there's lots of fresh debris from the storm. I've found they seem to be quite content around salt flats, on dead paperbarks. as to the soil content not sure about alkaloid presence i can't say I've tested it. I really wanna extract the colour from this particular fungus and dye my clothes with it I LOVE the maroonish-purple, i think it'd make a great colour for a pair of pants

    WA Gyms, tis the season

Not from looking for gyms, just ingesting wild mushrooms they believe are either edible or active. It's been in the news a lot recently. The uneducated dope-fiend will look for 'marshiezzz' and just eat whatever they find. On another note, here's some photos from my last walk. I'm aware the yellow ones aren't gyms they just look beautiful. If you happen to know what the yellow fungus is, would you mind enlightening me? http://i45.tinypic.com/2e38o6x.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/5yus91.jpg

    WA Gyms, tis the season

Likemyc You'll find them just about everywhere, remember to leave at least 3-5 in each patch so they can regenerate. Just about every wet bush area will have them. just wait and go for lots of walks. also; be careful, lots of people have been making mistakes and getting very sick/dying as a result.

    WA Gyms, tis the season

and when i say gyms i mean i've seen little colonies of like 20+ all growing in sweet harmony. a few juno's around as well just to make things a bit more fun.

    Invasive acacias

I'm a huge fan of acacias but if theres something I've noticed wandering around the west, its that Saligna, and the three mentioned by Quetzalt are rampaging while the more beautiful variants are becoming harder to find even in nurseries. It's been a long time since I've stumbled across a wild acuminata and in the past year I've only seen 3 podalyriifola (mt morgan wattle) Btw has anyone else noticed the list of active acacias has disappeared from wikipedia? i just realised. Should've screen-capped it
  9. Fungi season is in 2 months or so. I should probably start planning my bush walks

Mucho gras' I was pretty sure they weren't ALL purpuratus but that was what i was going for. I've left em to dry out the past few days in a container. It was suuuuch a nice spot where i found em

    great southern mushroom id

This guy is VERY CORRECT. i could tell you a few look like actives, but the majority look dangerously like galerina species. dooooo naaaawt eaaaat zem. 10 days of painful death await you.

    Id please

The last two are SO DEFINITELY a stink-horn. they develop that pretty lattice thing early on and the top rots later. I'm pretty sure the stink-horn develops that rotten top as a way of attracting flies to transport the spores. I've always wanted to see one in the bush. im so jealous.

    ID... Slippery Jack?

yeah thats a slippery jack. dont eat it, that one is too old and moldy. go for the fresh yellow ones.

    WA Season

I wouldn't eat the slippery jacks from down south. i mean they're reported to be tasty but really, don't take the chance. most will be heavily decayed within two days of rain and i wouldn't trust em.
