    Mimosa ID

Has approximately 10-12 seeds per seed pod. Was reading an old thread on here and the flowers + amount of seeds do not seem to match hostilis can anyone make suggestions, has no thorns either. The whole plant. the flower closeup the seed pod closeup
  3. was reading the news on my phone when i came along this article about the yarsagumba fungus. Thought some may find this interesting. I would be curious to see its efficacy. Sounds kind of gross though the way it is "born" but i guess magics grow in turd and people eat them(rebels) http://bigpondnews.com/articles/OddSpot/2012/08/01/Rare_fungus_enhance_sexual_prowess_778122.html

    Datura metel var fastuosa

My brugs and metel v.fastuosas are still flowering hard. It has been an 8 month flowering cycle so far. I have a double and a triple outof my batch of fastuosa seeds i tried to cross pollenate them but from hearing they are self fertile we will never know if it woked lol. Gonna try and grow most of the seeds out.
  5. a friend on the gold coast has one that shows this type of elongated groeth, but my TBM never does. Even though his longer ones also exhibit the same stout sections in some cases they also often throw these longer smoother ones. whereas mine pretty much grows long and fat at the same time without fail, and the initia growth has clearly defined ribs until they fully swell out which is always at the same size, just like eggs. People try to say they are the same but in over 25 cuttings i have taken off mine all put into different conditions i can't induce that sort of growth. I guess it COULD be etiollation of some sort i try to give mine fairly strong sunlight though none of my cuttings do until second segment is pretty much fully formed. edit: the more i look at the main segment the more i think that maybe i could just keep mine in bright enough light that they dont stretch.
  6. 8- opuntia a few mammilarias in there too i think. Sorryi can't be more help.

    Chilli Wing eating competition.

I remember the video you shared of the chilli wing eating comp a while back. I could gain much enjoyment from watching people torture themselves. Any word on what sort of chillis are in the sauce and at what strength? Should glaze with choc habanero pureé :D

    Wanted to trade/buy...pereskiopsis.

Providded they are still in my yard and not washed downsream by the floods i have maybe 10+ spare plants that are 20-40cm in height multiple stems, ideally would need to take and root cuttings to get them ideal for grafts. Id trade a few metres of the shit for any amount of any tricho that i dont have

    Australian Ethnobotanical Association

A thought for saving costs is that i just upgraded my hosting and only use around 1/4 of my bandwidth. I can provide a few people with FTP access to store files and stuff temporarily for sharing with the rest of the interested parties. Another thing to consider is contacting michael balderstone and co at the hemp embassy. I am sure they would be able to provide a lot of good solid information on and examples of all the relevant documentation that we would need to provide before becoming a 'legitimate assosciation'. Furthermore i think they woudl be happy to dedicate some time to helping us get this started. I am very keen to put as much time and resources (Aside from money as that is limited) towards this as is needed.

Not long now till se QLD Cube season!!!

Lamiters crossing, Advancetown hotel (look around these areas you will find secluded paddocks with fruits) Please harvest with a blad dont tear them out. I don't hunt Gold Coast anymore but seriously ANYWHERE just about up towards currumbin, advancetown, canungra that has cow paddocks you will likely find shrooms. a FOAF spread spores through most of tyhe paddocks in the advancetown area over a two year period so there should be an abundance of them around! If u are referring to cararra markets DONT go picking there. The crappest most open spot ever. Near robina railway station is a massive open paddock (you are visible but easy enough to escape if trouble arises) I honestly think that every cow paddock on the gold coast produces fruits eithe P. cyans or cubensis. I have never had a trip where i have fouhnd NOTHING. just other times are better than the rest. Good luck and any SE QLDerts who want some better directions feel free to shout out! edit: for those wondering why i share this, well simply shrooms are the drug that has opened the mind of many of my firends to the realities in our world. I feel this should be shared with all. Furthermore i dont hunt the spots anymore someone else might as well make use of them. Just be an ethical harvester, if you get more than you need invest in a dehydrator. spread the spores (tap shrooms opr use bigreds tek above)

  12. Don't forget alchohol... amongst other commonly used substances that become analogues. New laws are so frickin funny when you look into just what is covered by this ban. They are going to need to create a "Things that ARE analogues of illegal substances, but we let you have anyway" list. Funny that it will have two things on it "Alchohol and Tobacco" the two that we really need to have controlled...

The federal model schedules are coming

Just about everyone i talk to calls them datura or tree datura also. I think this come from names being passed down with the plants from quite a while back. The general population don't keep up to date with, or care about, taxonomical changes.
  14. So i am currently waging war on spidermites that came with some brugs i bought a few weeks ago :'( not happy. they have spread to some of my prized plants in the ground and i would really like to get rid of them. I have just started attempting to control them with the following. - Wettable Sulphur sprayed late afternoons (have heard copper might be a better option) doing this every day and hosing the plants down the following morning to try and blast off as many as i can. - blasting the underside with the hose i am looking at investing in some predator mites but my understanding is that many enjoy different climates wondering if anyone could name a species of predator that would thrive in sub-tropical QLD conditions? Also if all else fails what do you guys think is a guaranteed chemical that will kill these mofos in their tracks. I have spinosad which is supposedly a miticide so i might give it a go over the next couple of days too.

    New Greenhouse

Hehe my bunnings one didnt die by itself though i pulled it apart to move and the plastic all stuck together and i couldnt get it back apart again like everyone else i still have the shelves. Decent quality shelves. And all the extra bars have become stakes in my garden so it has all gone to use :D For $99 i didnt expect hat much. I purchased a $200 one that is made of much stronger materials (plastic cover more like a tarp strength wise rather than glad wrap. And the solid metal poles are like those on atrampoline. Didnt come with shelves but i prefer to use the old ones i have and custom build some new ones I have found a heap of real cheap greenhouses on crazysales. They are the same price i paid for my bunnings one but twice the size and stronger materials 3.5 x 2m = 95 + 30 shipping http://www.crazysales.com.au/large-round-roof-plant-greenhouse-3-5m-x-2-0m-x-2-0m.html
  16. They came back. So i have removed the lions tail plants, and daturas that they seemed to be breeding on (will re-grow them from seed) Doing the wettable sulphur thing again. I think the reason i like the wettable sulphur so much is that once the water evaporated there is a nice even coating of sulphur the whole way over the plant, it is pretty much impossible to miss a spot. And it annihilated the bugs. Never heard to use peppermint oil bbefore but i will be sure to look into it now.I have a peppermint that is goig rampant wonder if i could make the oil myself.

anonymous to take out facebook nov 5

Facebook wont be crashed by DDoS it is very unlikely anyway. They have numerous backup servers and failsafes to make this not the case, I would say it is more likely they are looking to hack the servers and initiate a shutdown on them from internally, though even this is one heck of a feat. The thing that shits me is that the downturn in profits is due to the lack of newly released games under their banner (in my opinion). people get sick of paying for in game bonuses after a while and they lose their sheen. Likewise people get over the games in generall and advertisers dont get the hits they want. i personally think that once this layoff goes ahead and they buy the new games you will see profits steadily rise again. I think this is why anonymous is threatening. They could spend some of their savings to buy new games and market them but instead they opt to fire a substantial amount of employees to fund this venture. And then outsource the work to the cheapest slave labor country they can find. But i guess this is how pretty much all big business works these days "100% Australian owned but 100% made in china" All of this masked under the guise of their profits being low. edit: also they are planning to relase TYLER on the 5/11/12

    Post your favourite chilli-eating video...?

  22. same, i find the mites don't even get slowed down by it. EXTREME! but yeah my mistake was not starting on the systemics at the beginning of the season. Foolishly i waited until i noticed them which was way too late sulphur worked wonders for me too yeah petroleum oil(white oil) is a great product. I have used it previously and still have some here i may use as a preventative thought i would update with my progress. - wettable sulphur sprays every second day for a week - neem oil sprays every twice the week after that - mites are non-existant on my brugs - now using spinosad semi-regularly and will consider white oil as well as a preventative. though i have noticed they are pretty bad on my lions tail seedlings next door, i wonder if this might be where they are breeding and spreading from so now iam treating this area the same. I noticed a significant drop in populations with the sulphur spray, and the neem finished them off though i have ended up with a few pretty severely damaged leaves (curled up and mutated) however these few damaged leaves aer not much compared to the possibility that i was going to miss it flowering! attached some pics so everyone can share!

the notion of "plants for profit"

A very good point. People are quick to jump on how absurd prices are, but don't think about all that goes into getting a plant ready for sale, or all the plants lost in this process. For the hobby gardener it may not be so extreme but to do medium-large scale propagation and growing on requires much planning. and in the case of smaller niche nurseries such as SAB it is even harder as they are offering such a diverse range of stock, much of which requires extremely varied conditions meaning more time must be spent to ensure that moisture levels etc are not to high/low in the varied areas. ----some things to consider---- - Developing a suitable environment(building greenhouse, irrigation, hot house, hydroponic systems etc) - ensuring you fall within australian codes of practice and OH&S guidelines(creating SOPs, hazard/risk assessments etc) - Purchasing materials (dirt, pots, trays, tray stands, shelves, pesticides, nutrients etc) - purchasing/propagation of stock (developing propagation & growing on plans, actually propagating, likely losing a pretty decent percentage and having to dispose of soil/wash pots(all ads time to the task)also any unhealthy looking stock can't go to sale and often gets turfed rather than attempting to save) - storing the stock in your greenhouse (effectively each section of space on the land is worth at the very least SOME of the rent, as such the plants cost x per week rent, x per week water, x per week nutrients which starts to add up) - maintenance/wages (staff need to be paid! At the very least nurseries, even small scale ones, need to make enough to pay bills, buy supplies & pay staff) --assuming you are growing for example 500 trichocereus cacti requiring say 3 years to be at sale size. on average in excess of 2 hours a week will be spent doing assorted tasks with these. be it directly with the plants or maintenance on equipment. hours a week x weeks in a year x years in growing on plan = total man hours x hourly rate = total labour cost 2 x 52 x 3 = 312 x 20 = $6240 keep in mind there are still many more costs assosciated such as electricity, water, soil, pots, etc. The figure may be slightly high for trichos as it wouldnt take 2 hours a week to care for them but i hope this helps outline how quickly the expenses build up, even if it is just trying to pay oneself and break even. This hasn't even included any of the other costs assosciated, just purely labour. understandably some things are sold far overpriced, but as Torsten has said, who pays for those who dont sell. [/offtopic] As for the spirits of plants, if they didn't appreciate what we were doing i am sure in some way they would have vocalised this! Well maybe not vocalised, thats a bit extreme, but made it known that they aren't happy.

  25. "can you see the sonic underlation(sp?), can you see it!" gosh she gets so excited by it! who knows maybe they are going to attack iran, let the storm hit and release a news feed once everyone is pissed off and looking for someone to blame for all their losses(aside from themselves and their pollution/destruction of the environment) "Iraninan weather manipulation behind the devastation of hurricane sandy" the sheep would jump all over that.
