    Australian Free Seed Ring

Sent off a few of the loacal plants i found for you guys this morning. Palm lillys, A. Podalryfolia, delonix regia, alpinia caerulea(native ginger) and a few others. Will send off some more once i get into gear and collect them/ID them... Infact might go for a walk this arvo and have a look around the area.
  3. Well there are shitloads of really cool looking plants growing around the area near mine and i am finding it hard to identify them for the most part. There was quite a few which looked like acacias but i found a few rather fascinating ones, there is one plant growing which looks like some of the larger trees but is growing almost like a ground-cover, quite fascinating, got many seeds off it would like to try and get an id, i can get close up shots of the seeds/seed pods if necessary. i looked up a few and from the look of the seeds/seed pods as well as phyllodes i sort of think MAYBE acacia fimbriata. Also i have a crapload of poinciana seeds iu am going to germ shortly (my fave plant pretty much, love the flowers and leaf structure) though from what i have heard upto 10 years until they flower but never the less i am going to germ around 50 seeds had about 75% strike rate last time with them and gave away seedlings to friends for their yards etc as well as using a few in my landscaping company, i sprout my own plants and plant out gardens with them where possible as a "cost effective garden refurbishment" as opposed to completely re-doing it i tidy up whats there and add a few bits and pieces too make it like new. here is another one i found, has really cool looking leaves, it is sort of reminiscent of an acacia phlebophylla although i may be wrong, i found a large tree which has had a small grassfire around it and now heaps of babies coming through. have heaps more, but for some reason our internet wont let me upload pics properly. takes like 20 tries per picture :'( anyways got a few more up found this one, has similar structure to a plant i saw at bunnings, forgot the name though... leaves are almost furry its wierd and cool. i just love the colour. another random shot of something i found.

Some local plants i need id'd

i think the 2nd pic i the first post MIGHT be A. Complanata not 100% sure though also i posted a while back in the acacia cloning thread about finding some babies whether they be rootstock or branches i am undeure, never the less they have taken off. New shoots everywhere on one(presumably a more shrubby variety) and nice large phyllodes on the other... No idea about id though been searching and searching. they are only young so it may be hard but if anyone knows it would be appreciated. plant number 1 plant number 2

Different areas of horticulture offer different training. once you get above cert 3 it starts to branch off into quite a bit more specific areas. I too am looking to study. Most likely aiming ultimately to focus on land management and preservation/revegetation.

    Nookers are snitching.

i have been reading this but staying clear until i read this... This is absurd, You are actually trying to take down this whole forum because you are having a little tanty. You would ruin a greatplace for us to chill and chat and more importantly learn about safety with ethnos. sad and immature. This site is not just for you, if you got busted shit happens. Just time to getover it and move on... in future everything you send should be pre4faced with a page explaining that "if people are a cop or working for the cops anything in the following PM can't be used for an investigation" This is just ridiculous though, get your ISP to reset your IP addy and make a new account, start again from scratch. Because you have turned everyone against you even ME who hasn't been on the forums long enough yet to form an opinion of anyone really. edit: a typical "if i can't have it then i will do everything within my power to make sure no-one else can" attitude. Kinda like my 3 year old son having a tantrum

    Local Haul

cheers all, and as for the weight i foud a calculator on a website somewhere which estimated taht we should do roughly 20g wet of Cyans but 25 g was exactly 1/3 of what we bruoght home so we split it into three piles. also reptyle i cant read anything on that page you linked me too different language. I work tonight and finish at 4 in the morning (just before the sun comes up) going to take a drive back down to the paddock and get me some shit for the abckyard. Going to get my own colony of mushies going so i dont have to go onot someone elses land to get them also just wondering it i got other mushies popping up around my poinsettia maybe putting some dung under it would be wise as the conditions obviously suit mushies. what do you guys think as far as a homefor cyans ??? in a fishtank with gladwrap over or semi-shaded spot in the corner of my yard or under my poinsetia(in a pot) or i could try all three

    Local Haul

was thinking about this, i got a climber at the back of my backyard garden which lets a bit of light through could put a few behind it thatway they are partially hidden, get partial sun and yeah. Sounds like a plan i might end up doing that... I got a few spare fishtanks, could knock up a chamber of some sort to leave out back too... made a house for my seedlings in one previously... I will be taking some sporeprints off the fresh ones i got today, what is a good thing to take them on for being able to mail them to someone etc ??? i thuoght about a laminating pouch but the glue mite get mixed in or something... im going too google it now and see what i can find, if anyone wants a print let me know.

    enough rain?

for anyone interested went for a hunt with a mate today in a couple of local paddocks... no luck initially then stumbled upon a "goldtop mine" mushiees everywhere, the rain and sun rain and sun rain and sun that has bin going on has done the trick... had around 15g fresh tonight, did the tea and strained it off twice, then on the third go around i take half a lemon and hand squeeze the juice in. I pretend that the chunks of mushie are the chunks of lemon. worked a treat will post back some piccies a bit later of some of the haul, hoping to take a cam out "in the field"(pun intended) next time as there were a fuckload of other cool looking fungi/mushies around. I just focused solely on the goldies as i dont know enuf about any of the others to risk anything... found a few really cool looking almost fluoro orange mushies growin wich tripped me out should have a pic somewhere will again do all the fiddly bits tomorrow. in short, yea the current weather(in S/E QLD) is perfect for all you guys itching to get your microscopes looking at some fresh sporeprints *cough*

Some local plants i need id'd

This is one i have been googling for a few days can't seem to get an id or even general direction to look a beautiful plant, flourishing since its repot 2 weeks ago. annoying me not knowing the name. Also i am assuming that it would be a plant that could be "Cloned" through rhizome division(cutting with a sharp knife... Not that i want to take any off it just like ot know for future reference. and another quick pic first time i have ever seen a Chlorophytum Comosum(spider plant) actually flowering off its pup branchlet thingies. Beautiful little flowers though. edit: its a Caladium finally i found it :D

firstly maybe the fact i can't understand the majority of what you typed may play a large part in it, but it sounds more like you having a go at him to me. Sorry if i misunderstood. From your post it didn't sound like you were looking for a "good convo" it looked more like you solely criticizing the fact he ended up posting the link, and not really interested at all. Do you always type like that? to me it came accross as a payout on his name, if not then sorry and i wish you the best. and it has nothing to do with anyone being black at all. I am so confused nothing in any post except your second made sense.
  13. i delivered pamphlets not long ago too, for two weeks after that i couldn't do it anymore absurdly underpaid. They must KNOW surely that you are only going to get around x amount done in x amount of hours. the same with the local "sun newspaper. it was even worse, had to roll and put all the papers into bags they barely fitted into (since swapped to the easier option of folding in half). took 2+ hours to fold them all and at least the same to deliver by bike. ended up being around 3-4$ an hour on a good day. They advertise it as "a great first job for kids" i guess in a way it is as any job after it seems like a godsend. A much better idea would be a fortnightly magazine of all the specials in the area people can ring and ask to be put in. All the money going to one company would mean each employee could get more. i get what you mean about the masses of paper too. Each week the piles and piles i alone would get for my small area were amazing. multiply that for the whole gold coast alone and it would be ridiculous. No-one wants to consider renewable crops for paper though. it is cheaper to bulldoze trees than harvest and prepare a hemp crop and heaven forbid we actually spend money to save the earth.

I am confused as to why people find it neccesary to be so negative in their responses to new members. It's like because they have just joined they must be only here to scheme and steal. Furthermore they mustn't have any background knowlege on anything. It is really irritating the way you guys do that. Stop picking on the new guy to make yourself feel good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dokha google search too 0.0000346 seconds to find that for me. maybe you can do it next time.

    ID these please regular cacti

I will agree after looking into some cereus cacti(lol no pun intended) but i don't think it is peruvian apple, look at the tiny spines. they are uniform the whole way over the plant. I will go take some piccys of the trunk (yes i said trunk its gnarly as) when the sun comes up and my mate gets up for work. will probably have edited them in before anyone gets to read this I know it isn't a "special" cactus but if anyone wants a cut let me know ASAP the thing will be bulldozed by early next week. the flowers look as though they would have been beautiful, who knows might get to see one when i am down there *fingers crossed* there was a few almost ready to open yesterday. edit: i stand corrected, much thanks to Mac for a positive ID see the below link, identical cacti. there are so many different variations... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_CUPnTSApPjo/STlbXWzljyI/AAAAAAAABUM/54IuQtOip_A/s320/IMG_0125.JPG&imgrefurl=http://john.in.thecalifornias.org/2008/12/cereus-repandus-peruvian-apple-cactus.html&usg=__ETK3cZaWGJ_wyLRF4FE_Q8X7TX4=&h=240&w=320&sz=12&hl=en&start=46&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=iUQic9RBFKVq0M:&tbnh=89&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3DPeruvian%2BApple%26ndsp%3D18%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26sa%3DN%26start%3D36%26um%3D1

From all the loking i did overnight and this morning i deduced a pachanoi of some sort ? would this be a reasonable assumption ??? If so correct me if i am wrong but the best way to plant a cut is to let it dry for a few weeks in a shady area for a couple of weeks to help keep mould out then plant a few cms into the ground...

    Bulk perlite

I can't vouch for the hydro stores but i have found a few online options for purchasing bulk fine grade perlite. If you don't mind paying postage could consider that... but postage on a bulk bag of pelite would almost outweigh the savings of buying in bulk...

i actually figured this out as a branch grew into the ground by itself at the base and rooted. anywho off to bed work early edit: a mate brought me some cuttings off a cacti out back of his place today... it doesn't seem to fully match any of the descriptions i could find on here what do you guys think it is it has just flowered/is flowering i will get him to take mne some pictures of the flowers 2nd cutting laying down larger main cutting closeup this one has quite good focus at the bottom left of the shot on the spines. there are two or three tiny brown spines in each.

    Acacia ID

just thought i would pop back in and let everyone know i have experimented with a few methods of cloning the epi, found that placing the "blade" into soil while it is still attached to the plant developed roots the quickest, though cutting them off and intoa few pieces worked well too. the first method can be quite awkward (getting dirt under the blades and partially burying them. But i had roots in a 1/4 the time, can then cut it off like 2-3 cms up and do the same again, well more like 5-10 now i look at it, and again until the blade is gone (i am using my old growth which has got some burns etc and overall needs to go around 3 blades will make 6-8 cuttings i will distribute to family and friends)

    Elder scroll - Oblivion

I love all of the elder scrolls games... or more-so all of the games by bethseda softworks... I didnt look much into alchemy in the game but there are a crapload of different herbs which can be harvested etc. The game is brilliant for the fact you can follow the main quest or join one of many guilds, walk through towns talking to randoms to find out about treasure... Overall a very immersive world i love it... kinda over it now but i play on and off still after having virtually finished all major quest chains.
  22. probably not a lot of them that anyone really wants bu i think that some experimentation on extracting from the pods would be worthwhile... here are what seeds i have managed to identify at present. 100+ x Cordyline rubra - Palm Lily 100+ x Jacaranda mimosifolia - i think its mimosifolia same color flowers just from my googling... 100+ x Acacia podalyriifolia - heaps around here actually i love them look so cool 100+ x Delonix regia - poinciana beautiful trees 100+ x Alpinia caerulea - native ginger i dont have ALL of these in quite so high a numbers ON me but i know where many seeds can be found. let me know if you want any of them and i can go and get some... also there are a crapload of acacia seeding i haven't been able to identify i can send off some cuttings in a bag with some seeds for people to try and identify Also i have my epiphyllum oxypetalum which i am most happy to send off clippings from to anyone who wants them... Also got heaps of poinsettia(get red leafy things for flowers) which will grow from clones easily there is a fair few more but off the top of my head this is all i can think of i think the podalriifolia would be REALLY worth investigating for their high content, however from what i have read extracting the DMT and so on from this plant is somewhat harder ??? either way they look fantastic would make a good feature plant in a yard if pruned and maintained well enough.

If anyone is interested i would really like to expand my Epi collection and would be willing to trade some cuttings off this for some others if anyone wants. I also have a fair few acacia seeds and so on if anyone wants those... But i think i have a new fave plant type those flowers were unbelievable, spent like 4 hours sitting out the back last night enjoying the other two which opened last night... going to attempt to make a pot pourri base out of the flowers, have heard they are a main ingredient in some. also mine is growing really wierd now, as you stated fractal growth, i have blades to the power of three, meaning a blade off a blade off a blade. but as well as that many of the blades are growing with ribs perpendicular to the blade for strength, and it works too, can barely move the branches with hte "reinforcement" but if anyone wants a reasonable clipping off this baby let me know.

    Growing Acacias from cuttings.

There is an area of land near my house which has been cleared for development around 2 years ago but held up in red tape... the knocked a lot of acacias down and it would appear quite a few branches and so on have been half buried. they churned the soil around a year ago and leveled it and since i have noticed an abundance of acacia "seedlings" growing. however i dug one out to try and get it home to find it was attached to a small twig around 10cm long and 1.5cm thick with roots shooting off the stick. There are shitloads of them growing and i am not 100% sure if they have all grown in the same fashion but this would surely indicate that cloning cannot be THAT difficult... I will go dig a few more out over the next few days to check (they are starting to move machinery back in and from what the council told me starting to build and every tree on the block will be leveled to build a housing estate so yeah. its either me or the machines ;) will get back to you all on what i find... As for actual cloning techniques, Harry has stated pretty much exactly how i have recently tried to take some and will be seeing if they take *fingers crossed* i have seeds from a few of them anyway though so its not much of an issue if the clones don''t take as i will have a fair few seedlings shortly also with some of the species, i.e. Acacia Podalriifolia(spelling?) you would want to take the older branches which have lost the furriness, this isn't from practice more of an educated guess, but the older more "proper" branches would be a much more suitable candidate for cloning (in my opinion)... the silvery ones seem way to soft etc... cloning is much the same in principle for all plants... sterile tools, angled cut under the internode, remove the majority of foliage, cloning powder/gel/whatever, into the clone box... I just used my clonex purple as it is what i have may not be optimal but shuold do fine. and chiral, i like to take clones an inch or two under the nodes and put upto just below the node in the ground ( have found having nodes under the ground seems to increase the chance of rot forming, other say the opposite but i stand by my ways ;)

Well as predicted the flower has sprung open, got home at 9.30 peeked out the window to see this beautiful blooming flower out there :D couldn't get any real decent shots of it because its dark and the white glows too much with flash, will tyr getting up early tomorrow for some more, better, pictures... still another 2 flowers on it though yet... also i notice the flowers rather than having 1 "vein" running to them they actually have like 4-5 smaller squiqggly veins compared to the one fat straight one for new stems... another cool little thing... a quick question, what it the best way to grow a cutting off one of these??? i would like to give a couple away to some friends, as this one was a gift to me, and would like to get them settled first... just into some potting mix of some sort ?? or water, i have clonex if that would help lol... anywho enjoy the pictures... and as for the smell my mrs noticed it i am a bit blocked up i thought it was just the lavender but its not, very sweet.
