How much moon do plants need.

Moonlight is in the ballpark of 10,000 to 20,000 times less bright than sunlight so they won't really exactly be photosynthesising much on even the mooniest of nights. Buuut, there are the odd plants that are quite sensitive to photoperiod, that is to say, things like the amount of flowering can actually be affected by even this teensy weency little piddly bit of light compared to absolute darkness. I don't know if that's a significant benefit, we're in mega-generalisation territory here....Nighty night.

The Great Global Warming/Cooling Thread Part 2

Sorry, I don't mean to take any kind of moral high road or anything like that. Just noticing this thread taking a nasty turn toward the bitches gripes section of the place. But the guy in the Bar that tries to break up the fight is invariably the one who ends up getting decked so hey, youall wanna verbally start punching on, be my guest. Pretend I'm not here, I'll go make some popcorn.

The Great Global Warming/Cooling Thread Part 2

Posting Rules 2) Please be friendly and supportive (no insults). but then there's this.... 6) Provide a valid and accurate climate, or a location from which climate can be deduced. which is kinda related to this "discussion" in a convoluted and punlike, interesting, amusing way
  7. Ah sweeet, I’m expecting to get there Fri. so that’ll work out well. for me at least..
  8. Things are really shaping up now, fantastic. I'm just wondering if the nursery will be open for plant sales at some point over the course of things. was assuming that, but just thought i'd check..

    Acacia Maidenii

They grow fine in pots as long as you pot them up into a bigger pot each time their roots fill up the pot they are in. Goes for any plant really with a few exceptions that actually enjoy a little potboundness. Of course, the difference between a few litres of decent potting mix and mother earth is staggering. particularly for wattles. But the good ( or bad ) thing is plants in pots can be moved! If the weatherman says FKN Look out!; torrential rain or belting frosts or cyclones or whatever, you can do something about it, ya know. Once they're in, they're in and it's a little bit more up to the plant gods but when they are "in" they absolutely boom, for the most part, but if you're living arrangements dictate mobility then pots are fine BUT if any plant is in one pot too long it's roots start to tangle themselves up round and round and this can become a permanent disability. A plant that has become root bound basically has it's roots knotted instead of just fanning out naturally and even after it's planted out into the ground to live it's merry life, the knotting doesn't correct itself, in fact, as the roots that are close to the trunk slowly get thicker and larger this knotting strangles and stunts the plant for the rest of it's handicapped life like accidental Bonsai. You can occasionally pull them out of their pots and inspect the roots and then simply put them back in again with just a little bit of plant shock, no worries, or at an absolute minimum, if you see roots have made it to the drainage holes then.....NOW IS THE TIME! oh, and maiden are pretty cold hardy...i think.

  13. Oh, Dude, I'm sorry too. 1 emoticon and 4 words are a terrible form of communication. There was no "i'll miss you" emoticon to shame. Family is some pretty important stuff, maybe the most. and being there for them.....cliché, cliché, platitude, platitude....... I was just selfishly grumbling at "timing" cos we discussed trippin' to it together in Dec. and I've been thinking about it since then.... the night is still young

    brahmi seeds

Hi Corndog, are you going for genetic variation? I'm just wondering why? I personally haven't heard of seed propagation for this species so can be of no help there. just trying to flesh out your reasoning. it's just a tiny bit like wanting to seed propagate wandering dew....
  15. Hi Alchemica, this is indeed an under-explored thing. and something i have a growing interest in. I'll get right to my point; leonotis leonurus, and it's buddies.. after dozens of failed attempts to get it to "work" a while back, I took a breath from a 40 litre black plastic bag with a kilo of flowering stems that had been sitting in a hot car for 4 days and WaHay! an hour or so of "success???" coulda been a big old dose of chlorophyll IDK I've read reports that beer made with it is good too. I'm fairly dunce when it comes to chemistry but, i wonder, because it was a singular almost accidental experiment and life's circumstances stopped me from experimenting further. But this plant is starting to interest me again after reading your post. perhaps, like other African entheogen, it's all about the fermentation? but folks who are much smarter than me might be able to look at the science before i start?

    Youtube vids

This is sooo gold! Because it only works with diet beverages, yeah? so many points of failure are possible before the film was actually filmed, it's fun to speculate. did they pay her with free coke? in that case, i'm guessing there were a lot of Takes for this shot, i mean like, a lot. Or maybe she was some Eastern European Heroine/Freakshow in a local town... Mikael:"There is a girl i know who drinks 9 litres coke with Mentos" Ivan:"No, this is not possible, stomach will explode, I saw this in American Mythbusters show, Yes?" Mikael:"Yes, it is possible! Many people have seen her do this before. Many tiiiiimes."

    Flat earth debate

Ah Yes, for a little while there I had a growing feeling that “Mad” Mike had done took the crowdfund money and gone adissapearing on us. And I think, in the long run, I’ll probably wish that that would have been his best course of action. time for some popcorn.

Just say "no" to sniffer dogs

Bit of an ironic tangent, If you're a bit too "naughty list" with what's in your pocket, they put you in gaol "yeah, that'll sort 'em out."says society... gaols that are awash with illicit drugs and where you can have a one-on-one with a hardened drug smuggler AMA daily... Or for that matter, get to know every crim the joint (was that a pun?) Probably the single worse course of action if you want to stop crime spreading. but maybe that's the bit of this i'm trying to point to, they don't actually want to stop crime, if they did they'd be out of a job. They just want to find crime, that's their real job; shocking the public into giving them more money. pure hustle. "give us money, we need to find crime! it could be anywhere. it's everywhere! It's a problem in this society (run by criminals) We need heaps of money to find crime and then fine the people involved or put them in gaol" ooh, soapboxy. never been inside, in fact, I'm a cleanskin.
