  1. Howdy ya'll i figured i'd add any more plants i've got available in this thread to save the clutter. I have an Acacia confusa for sale. It is approximately 1 meter tall and will be available for pick up from the Central Coast, NSW. $150.
  2. Howdy y'all, We currently have many A. courtii and A. obtusifolia on offer. $20 each plus postage. I'll make a list of what else is available and add some updates soon. Hope you're all doing well. Blessings, Reptyle.
  3. I've been doing some reading in regards triazoles... and it appears to me that their endocrine disrupting effects are a major factor in many of today's metabolic disorders, thyroid disorders and other hormonal imbalances causing such things as endometriosis and various other cancers. I recently did some work on a strawberry farm, and these class of fungicides are used heavily to treat the strawberries and alter growth habit. Certain Triazoles are known to have a long half life in the soil and systemically. So it is no doubt we are ingesting these compounds. On this same note, there are known medicinal uses for such chemicals, reducing hair loss due to androgen sensitivity and reducing the aromatisation of testosterone to stop breast cancer growth. Good to be aware an DYOR.
  4. Paclobutrazol Plant growth regulators are chemical substances which govern all the factors of development and growth within plants. The application of plant growth regulators to crops modifies hormonal balance and growth leading to increased yield, enhanced crop tolerance against abiotic stress and improved physiological trait of crops. Paclobutrazol (PBZ) [(2RS, 3RS)-1-(4-chlorophenyl)- 4, 4-dimethyl-2-(1H-1, 2, 4-trizol-1-yl)-pentan-3-ol], is one of the members of triazole family having growth regulating property. The growth regulating properties of PBZ are mediated by changes in the levels of important plant hormones including the gibberellins (GAs), abscisic acid (ABA) and cytokinins (CK). PBZ affects the isoprenoid pathway, and alters the levels of plant hormones by inhibiting gibberellin synthesis and increasing cytokinins level and consequent reduction in stem elongation. When gibberellins synthesis is inhibited, more precursors in the terpenoid pathway accumulate and that resulted in the production of abscisic acid. PBZ is more effective when applied to the growing media and application on the growing medium would give longer absorption time and more absorption of active ingredient than foliar spray. The application of PBZ to crops is important in reducing plant height to prevent lodging and in increasing number and weight of fruits per tree, in improving the fruit quality in terms of increases in carbohydrates, TSS, TSS/TA and decreases acidity. It further reduces evapo-transpiration and decreases plant moisture stress by enhancing the relative water content of leaf area and develops resistance in the plants against biotic and abiotic stresses. In addition, it acts as highly active systemic fungicide and used against several economically important fungal diseases. In this review, the current knowledge and possible applications of PBZ, which can be used to improve the growth, yield and quality of crops, have been reviewed and discussed. The role of PBZ to mitigate the harmful effects of environmental stresses in crops is also examined. Moreover, various biochemical and physiological processes leading to improved crop production under the effect of PBZ are discoursed in detail.

  6. I recall there were some interesting experiments being done with acacias in long polypipe tubes... some say that it worked well for growing the tap root. Definately big trees prefer the ground, and will do better going directly into the soil immediately than growing with a stunted taproot. Perhaps some light pruning might help reducing the leggynness. There are probably some hormones that could be used to increase the branching from the trunk etc though I am not an expert on treating acacias in the same way that other commercial crops are treated, so experiment away and report back.
  7. This courtii is doing pretty well so far... If someone were to regularly prune it I imagine it would maintain for the longer term.
  8. We have some in pots that are doing ok. They will prefer to go into the ground when they get bigger though. They can become root bound. These seedling are approximately 20cms tall. They have started to produce phyllodes and lose their bipinnate leaves.

Please take 5 minutes of your times to send an email [email protected] tell them that you are appalled by the ability of the alcohol industry to peddle their addictive drugs on tv, radio and at sporting events... alcohol is defined as an intoxicant in the broadcasting code... this is unacceptable as a product to be promoted as part of a positive behavior. we can have an alcohol free australia and be a better nation for it... thankyou for caring about the future of our country. SHARE THIS POST! "Hi Guys, I'm just writing to express my disgust at the fact that alcohol manufacturers are allowed to peddle their addictive drugs on tv, radio and at sporting events. Alcohol is defined as an intoxicant in the broadcasting code; it is unacceptable for alcohol to be marketed as part of a positive behavior. Please explain your reasoning for the current rules at your earliest convenience. Regards ####" Here's a template.

if i am to change the people, i think it would start by getting you guys and girls on board... any change is good change when it comes to this issue... making things move, creates a feeling that its ok to move. and then others notice and they also start changing things... then what is a good question... it is amazing how much small subliminal messages affect everyday decision making... adds on television are profound in their ability to alter peoples choices... to remove alcohol from popular thought and everyday contemplation is a very good place to start. i am also working on having ETOH removed from the list of FOODS and reimaged as a therapeutic good... it is already used in all sorts of medical products... it doesnt belong in the food standards code... once it is regulated under the TGA act it will be easier to use it as to compare and contrast with other similar intoxicant, at the moment it is exempt from scheduling. which doesnt make any sense.

changing the drinking culture through the massmedia will be far more effective than changing drinking hours. obviously.

people have become estranged from the joyous artform that is the cultivation and production of yeasts and alcohol... in a similar way they have left behind home food production. you can buy stills yes. just being angry solves nothing, u must choose a symbol of the wrong being done and focus activity towards it. alcohol is the very epitome of hypocrisy, it is used in religion, it is abused in society, it is advertised to children, it is made to seem like a normal behaviour... the need to intoxicate is a deeply ingrained neurosis. the need to expand and explore and heal it absolutely different. if u think the world is currently perfect... then i see no reason why you would feel the need to comment on this issue? hmmm.

home brew should be legal, home distillation should be legal, the technology of fermentation should be returned to the people... alcohol should not be a source of revenue for the government. drug use of any kind should not be advertised or encouraged, it should be allowed. people should be educated and be encouraged to take responsibility for their own actions... healthy lifestyle should be promoted, healthy food and healthy minds. drug use should be sacred and secret, but not criminal. alcohol users should do a responsible drinkers license... that can be lost. any other solutions? start with getting rid of advertising. send the email.

whether i am right or not isnt important... though if u send the email, and ask for information and get involved in understanding the issues relating to alcohol, we can as a group gain greater clarity regarding other substances... so i think emails should be sent, information requested, to everyone and anyone involved... ask for statements from alcohol companies... i think i have explained the homoeopathic principle before... like cures like... thusly prohibition of alcohol will cause such a negative reaction as to result in cure of all prohibition, namely by providing reasoning and arguments for such liberalisation. send an original email... expressing YOUR opinion... kids should have the right to be free from mindless brainwashing...regardlessof capitalist ideals.... which our society does not embody at all...

i sincerely hope some of u slip over and graze ure knees. peddling alcohol to kids watching sport and inferring that it is a positive behaviour is the wrong thing to do... our plant friends are illegal because most people are too stupid to use them responsibly or to ignorant to do anything about it, largely because we live in an alcohol dominated society... when people start needing to search for alternatives... they will find them. peaceloveandfucku
